Blackview BV4800 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Blackview BV4800 Overview
Blackview BV4800 - excessive simplicity
Creating a low-end smartphone is not the easiest process, sometimes similar to defusing a bomb. To reduce costs, it is necessary to carefully remove, lower, or replace a huge number of parameters, but at the same time magically maintain the attractiveness of the product for the end user. Things are even more complicated with phones protected from dust and moisture. Unfortunately, the Chinese company Blackview was unable to cope with the task, judging by the hero of today's review.
The appearance of the new product is relatively good due to the beautiful camera unit and the interesting texture of the rubberized rear panel. But at the same time, it is easy to notice a number of simplifications, namely the absence of a fingerprint scanner, large display frames, and the large thickness of the candy bar. The 6.56-inch IPS screen is good for the price category. It has a brightness reserve of 500 nits, not particularly high, but still sufficient for clear images with a resolution of 1612x720 pixels. Color rendition is close to natural.
The technical specifications are a real problem. The use of a MediaTek Helio A22 processor, 2/3GB of RAM and a PowerVR GE8320 video adapter should be declared illegal in 2023, because the combination has great difficulty even coping with the Android 13 interface. Launching individual applications can take about ten seconds; among three-dimensional games only sane performance is demonstrated undemanding PUBG Mobile and World Of Tanks Blitz with minimal graphic presets. But the modest energy consumption of the chipset, coupled with a 5180 mAh battery, guarantees 10-15 hours of active screen time on a single charge. As for the amount of permanent memory, it reached 32/64GB. You simply cannot do without a MicroSD card slot.
13- and 0.3-megapixel photo modules will take clear photographs of documents in good lighting, but even daytime artistic shots are not successful in the first take. Stereo sound and NFC contactless payments have also become savings targets. As a result, solely moisture protection according to IP68 standards and autonomy may be the reasons for purchasing a device that is frankly outdated in many respects.
