Meizu 20 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Meizu 20 Overview
Meizu 20 - a new era for a forgotten company?
Meizu Corporation has long ceased to be one of the industry leaders, losing brand fans every year even in its homeland. However, the actual purchase of the organization by the Geely automaker gives the manufacturer hope for regaining its former glory. And the hero of today's review may be the first step towards the return of the once popular developer.
The appearance of the novelty is extremely good. Although the design lacks some originality, a compact block of three photomodules with a proprietary circle of LEDs, a glass and metal case rounded around the entire perimeter, a truly frameless display and an under-screen fingerprint sensor will appeal to every buyer. The use of a 6.55-inch AMOLED display helped maintain the ergonomics of the monoblock, because it is convenient to operate it even with one hand. Surprisingly, even the relatively small AMOLED screen has an impressive resolution of 3200x1440 pixels, which guarantees the utmost clarity of the image. Of course, there are no problems with the brightness of the picture, its smoothness at 120 Hz refresh rate.
Inspire optimism and technical characteristics. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12GB of RAM and the Adreno 740 graphics core are seriously superior in performance to previously released chipsets. This fact means not only a record 1.25 million points in the Antutu benchmark, but also the fantastic responsiveness of the Android 13 interface, the maximum graphics settings not only in modern, but also future Android games. The energy efficiency of the CPU is not satisfactory. The 4700mAh battery almost always shows about 7-8 hours of active screen time. Fast wired charging at 67W will not be superfluous either, but its wireless counterpart was saved for the more expensive Pro version. The size of the internal storage was 128/256/512GB without the possibility of expansion.
The photographic abilities of the main cameras are not bad, but they cannot be called excellent either. The main 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor with hybrid stabilization, a 16-megapixel wide-angle module and a 5-megapixel macro camera are quite capable even with night photography, but they are inferior to full-fledged camera phones in terms of frame detail, realistic color reproduction and other photo and video parameters. Stereo sound, however, is very loud, and even frequency response is not deprived. Also, NFC contactless payments and 5G support fall into the advantages of the model, but the list of shortcomings will be replenished by the presence of non-removable applications in Chinese, the lack of moisture protection and many language packs. On the other hand, the number of pluses still significantly outweighs the number of minuses of the gadget, which allows us to recommend a potential hit for purchase.
