NIO Phone Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
NIO Phone Overview
NIO Phone - from cars to smartphones
Can a well-known Chinese electric vehicle maker create a smart phone that can impress with its combination of reasonable price, outstanding functionality and beautiful design? Incredibly, the first product of an experienced representative of another industry perfectly fits the specified description and is ready to be a reliable mobile assistant for millions of people.
The appearance of the new product is beautiful and quite distinctive. A huge number of colors, an interesting logo on the back glass panel, a metal frame, an original block of photo modules with a circle of LED flashes and a frameless display make the device significantly more attractive than most opponents. It’s even surprising how such an ergonomic and graceful phablet also received moisture protection according to IP68 standards. The 6.81-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3088x1440 pixels also evokes extremely positive emotions. The image is smooth thanks to the refresh rate of 120 hertz, has an amazing brightness reserve (1800 nits), and pleases with clarity and natural color reproduction. Of course, the flagship is not without a high-quality oleophobic coating of the AMOLED panel and an accurate under-screen fingerprint sensor.
The technical characteristics are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12GB/16GB of RAM and the Adreno 740 video accelerator. Needless to say, the combination will remain relevant for several years even for sophisticated gamers. Thousands of Android games, including resource-intensive Fortnite, Alien Isolation, Genshin Impact and others, will play perfectly at maximum graphics settings. Of course, the smooth operation of the Android 13 interface is also striking, and launching applications is sometimes instantaneous. At the same time, the chipset is quite energy efficient, thanks to which the 5200 mAh battery lasts for one and a half, and sometimes two days. Fast wired charging with a power of 66W and its wireless option (50W) are provided. As for the amount of permanent memory, the user has a choice of 512 and 1024GB of internal storage.
Three 50-megapixel cameras have been prepared for photographers. The main sensor from Sony and the telephoto lens with almost three times zoom are equipped with hybrid stabilization and perform excellently regardless of the lighting or the dynamics of the event. The wide-angle lens doesn't let you down either. High quality photos and videos guaranteed 99% of the time. Stereo sound does not disappoint with either volume or frequency response balance. There was also support for 5G, NFC and even an infrared port. In fact, the only disadvantage of the gadget for residents of Europe and the CIS countries will be the lack of a global version and, as a result, a full translation of the software. Also disappointing is the presence of untranslated application services for China. However, it is quite easy to come to terms with such a shortcoming of such a high-tech device.
