UMIDIGI G5 Mecha Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
UMIDIGI G5 Mecha Overview
UMIDIGI G5 Mecha - protection that is hard to see
The rugged smartphone segment continues to evolve. Particularly strong metamorphoses occur among inexpensive phones with moisture protection according to IP68 standards. If at first manufacturers improved the functionality and performance of such devices, now they have moved on to improving their appearance. The hero of today's review is a clear proof of this.
The slim and ergonomic body of the novelty is decorated with a beautiful dual camera unit, a matte texture on the back panel, a side fingerprint scanner, and relatively narrow display bezels for IP68 devices. IPS-display has become one of the objects of economy. The brightness doesn't disappoint, but the sharpness of the image at a resolution of 1612x720 pixels, the standard 60 Hz refresh rate, is not to be said. There is also no oleophobic coating, but opponents' IPS panels also cannot boast of it.
The selection of technical characteristics is definitely more successful. The current UNISOC Tiger T606 CPU has eight fairly powerful cores, it is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and a Mali G57 MC1 video adapter. As for synthetic tests, the AnTuTu benchmark scores over 200,000 points. This result allows us to hope for smooth operation of Android 13 without noticeable jamming. The functioning of browsers and instant messengers will also be extremely comfortable. Playability is quite wide. The chipset copes well with not particularly demanding 3D games like PUBG, Call Of Duty. Titles like Genshin Impact intended for flagship devices are launched, but the smoothness is far from ideal, and graphic presets will have to be significantly reduced. The amount of permanent memory is not limited to 128GB, it can be increased with MicroSD cards.
50 and 2-megapixel main cameras will give you nice looking daytime photos. The Samsung JN1 sensor proved to be worthy in dozens of affordable gadgets, landscapes, portraits are excellent. Unfortunately, all the magic disappears with the deterioration of lighting. Noise and blurring cannot be avoided. For sound in response, one speaker of impressive diameter, there are no problems with volume, but there could be more bass. There are no contactless NFC payments, so paying for goods at the supermarket checkout will not be so easy. But it is difficult to scold the device for its few disadvantages, because it is not easy to find an equally balanced, durable and at the same time convenient gadget.
