I have recently changed from Samsung S8 contract to Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T sim free, I'm retired and no longer need a mainstream phone. My search on the internet did take several hours/days looking and watching reviews and looking at one phone vs another phone searching between Blackview A80, Nokia 7.2, Xiaomi Redmit Note 8T and the 9s. I didn't want to pay megger bucks any more for a sim free phone or continue paying in excess of £47 per month on contract. I am so pleased with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T, it has a large screen and does everything I need it to do and the important factor for me was the camera which is a 48mp quad configuration which I am really pleased with. Battery life is amazing [having had to recharge my S8 twice a day] so, overall in my first week with the new phone I am really pleased.

Not perfect but great value for money.
Haven't used Android for a while, but this was relatively easy to get back into using this phone. Seems well made and the fingerprint scanner works very well. Battery life for my usage is good as well. It's not blazingly fast of course but it's excellent at this price point. The bloatware is as often said a real pain. You can get rid of most of it in options, but it takes a while to sort out. One reason for buying this phone was the camera. On the whole it works very well. The images are pretty sharp and the mode functions work well. HOWEVER the images are very over saturated. Comparing them to my old iPhone 6s Plus which produces a much more realistic image, the 8T is rather over the top. This may just be my unit. The only way I have been able to get a more natural picture has been to use the Open Camera app and use/edit a RAW image to get the I want. On the other hand if you like a strong processed image this sometimes comes up with some very nice pictures. Sample below. I paid £159.00 from Amazon and came from them quickly. As in write this I see Xiaomi have just put the phone on sale for £119.00 which makes it great value for the spec. Looking back I just don't see the point in a much more expensive iPhone if all you need is a good smartphone. If you spend the money on a nice new iPhone you will get a better device and probably will outlive this by some margin. But £120 for this !!!! Well worth it.
