Asus Zenfone 8 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Asus Zenfone 8 Overview
Asus Zenfone 8 - expensive compactness
The laurels of the Apple iPhone 12 keep many developers awake. An extremely popular gadget has become such not only due to cameras or functionality. Compact dimensions and outstanding ergonomics are not the latest reasons for the success of a product from an American corporation. The Taiwanese company Asus tried to repeat the formula of the famous hit. It turned out very decently, but the price tag is not far from the main competitor.
The design of the novelty is relevant, but at the same time it is not devoid of a number of shortcomings. Only the dual photomodule and the visible frames of the AMOLED screen upset, but the device is ready to please with a frameless 5.9-inchAMOLED panel with a built-in fingerprint scanner, a durable and beautiful metal edging, a nice-looking back panel made of tempered glass. The display itself is standard for the higher price category. An increased refresh rate of 120hertz and a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels are complemented by good brightness and contrast. The screen behaves well in direct sunlight, but the image still fades noticeably.
The technical characteristics are top-end, however, the Qualcomm Snapdragon888 processor, 6GB / 8GB / 16GB ofRAM and the Adreno 660 video adapter are still subject to slight throttling due to the lack of a well-thought-out cooling system. On the other hand, the productivity reserve will be enough for a couple of years to come. Resource-intensive games amaze with maximum graphics presets and a huge number of frames per second. 128 / 256GB ofUFS 3.1 format ROMs are very fast and have a positive effect on the speed of Android 11 and data loading. That is why the manufacturer did not install a slot for microSD memory cards, because they would significantly slow down the phablet.
The main 64- and 12-megapixel cameras are topped by a Sony IMX686 sensor and are equipped with optical stabilization. While it is no longer possible to surprise the sophisticated user with the excellent quality of photos in low light, the video shot in the evening in 8K resolution will amaze with the naturalness of color reproduction, an abundance of details and smoothness. The battery capacity is brought up to an impressive 4000mAh , there is a quick charge at 30W. Even one and a half active use will not be a problem for such a battery. It is also worth noting high-quality stereo speakers, NFC contactless payments, and protection against dust and moisture according to IP68 standards. Thus, it is difficult to find critical disadvantages in the device, but this may not be enough to achieve bestseller status at such an impressive price.
