Honor Magic 9 Pro Max – Pure Perfection

The premium smartphone market isn't exactly packed with products. Putting aside expensive flip phones, the only ones that come to mind are devices from Apple, Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo. But the Chinese company Honor disagrees. As a result, we have a device in today's review that will surprise you in many ways.

The new device's appearance is superb. The back panel is crafted from a combination of ceramic and leather, the metal frame is crafted from a durable titanium alloy, the graceful photo module assembly, and the thin bezels with an integrated ultrasonic fingerprint sensor further enhance the positive design impression. Of course, it features full IP69K water resistance. The nearly 7-inch AMOLED display is flawless. The 3200 x 1440 resolution delivers exceptional image clarity, harmoniously combined with smoothness at a refresh rate of 144 Hz and peak brightness of 8000 cd/m². Color reproduction is incredibly realistic, there's no PWM effect, and the touch panel is very responsive. Perhaps the only criticism is the size of the dual selfie camera with updated face detection technology. Safety and comfort come at a price.

The performance of the device's powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor (Pro version), 16 GB of RAM, and Adreno 850 graphics core achieve record-breaking results. For example, the AnTuTu v10 benchmark score exceeds four and a half million points. Of course, all existing games run flawlessly at maximum graphics settings with an incredible frame rate. Throttling is a thing of the past, thanks to software optimization and a high-quality cooling system. The battery has grown to 8500 mAh, so battery life often exceeds ten hours. Of course, there's 50W wireless charging, with a 100W wired option. Storage options include 512GB or 1024GB.

Photography has been improved to near perfection. The latest large 200-megapixel Omnivision OVB0D sensor and a similar 200-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom deliver photo and video detail on par with the best camera phones. Noise and blur will be hard to spot even in photos taken with the simpler 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The already impressive list of advantages is further enhanced by NFC contactless payment, eSIM and 5G support, an IR port, and a stylus (not available in all versions). Thus, we have an expensive, yet extremely powerful, stylish, and functional gadget with no apparent downsides.
