The Chinese company Tecno isn't exactly a smartphone market leader, but it's hard to deny the company's determination. Former underdogs are seeing their audience grow by tens of percent each year. This isn't surprising, as phones like the one reviewed today boast a balanced technical specifications, attractive design, and a lack of serious flaws.

The new device's appearance is more than impressive for its price segment. The matrix display for displaying the time and notifications, nestled within a stylish camera module, immediately catches the eye. The futuristic texture of the back panel, thin bezels with an integrated fingerprint scanner, and IP69 water resistance complement the positive exterior impression. I'd prefer to see tempered glass or metal instead of the ubiquitous use of plastic. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display boasts a 2644x1208 resolution, making image clarity even sharper than many competitors. The same can be said for the smoothness of the 144 Hz refresh rate. Color reproduction is flawless, and the peak brightness of 4,500 nits is comparable to some flagships.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, however, is simply impressive. Combined with 8GB/12GB of RAM and a Mali G615-MC2 graphics card, it scores around 650,000-680,000 points in AnTuTu, eliminating significant lag in the Android 16 interface. However, this chipset isn't exactly a gaming chip, as it only runs resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact at a reasonable frame rate at low to medium graphics settings. But there's also no excessive heating or throttling. No skimping on battery capacity. The 6500mAh battery lasts for a couple of days, so you won't need to spend long hours plugged in with the 45W charging power. However, you can't expand the 256GB/512GB storage with a MicroSD card.

Photographic capabilities are handled by two cameras. While it's hard to get excited about the basic 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, the rather large 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700C main sensor with hybrid image stabilization handles many shooting scenarios. With some practice, it's easy to create detailed evening photos or videos, and there's no excess noise or other artifacts when capturing moving objects. The presence of stereo speakers, support for 5G frequencies and NFC contactless payments, and an infrared port highlight the gadget's balanced features and its potential to become popular in many countries.
