Ulefone Note 23 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Ulefone Note 23 Overview
Ulefone Note 23 – Cheap, but Very Poor
For some reason, the Chinese company Ulefone decided to create a line of extremely affordable smartphones. However, the success of this decision is highly questionable, as the price difference between the entry-level and higher-end models is negligible, which is not true for their technical specifications and features.
The new device's appearance is hardly a failure. The bright colors of the case, the attractive photo module array, the ergonomic candybar shape, and the use of plastic of decent quality make a positive impression. However, there's no room for a fingerprint scanner, and the display bezels are quite wide. The 6.56-inch IPS panel is simply mediocre. The 1210x540 pixel resolution is insufficient to provide a clear image, making it unusable even for viewing HD content on video hosting sites. The only notable positive is the smoothness of content at a 90 Hz refresh rate, but this is offset by a paltry 350 nits of brightness and dull color reproduction.
The UNISOC T7100 (T603) processor, 3 GB of RAM, and PowerVR GE8322 graphics adapter are a generally capable combination, eliminating any significant lag in the lightweight Android 16 Go interface. However, even older 3D games like PUBG Mobile won't offer smooth gameplay, even with minimal graphics settings. Even launching regular apps can sometimes take several seconds. At least battery life is decent, thanks to the CPU's energy efficiency and the 5000 mAh battery. You can expect 7-8 hours of active screen time. There's no fast charging (10W). The device has 32GB of storage, but at least there's a microSD card slot.
The main 8-megapixel and 0.3-megapixel cameras are designed for video calls and document capture. Don't think about artistic photography, as capturing decent photos in terms of detail and color reproduction is difficult. There's no stereo sound, but there is a rare headphone jack these days. There's no NFC contactless payment. Ultimately, we recommend opting for a slightly more expensive, significantly better device.
