Xiaomi 12S Ultra Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi 12S Ultra Overview
Xiaomi 12S Ultra - when not only photos are flawless
The Chinese Xiaomi company is trying to differentiate its products so that it meets the largest possible number of requests from demanding users. The hero of today's review is aimed at fans of high-quality mobile cameras and strives to take a leading position in the popular DxOMark rating.
The appearance of the novelty turned out to be beautiful, albeit at times too peculiar. The manufacturer removed the additional AMOLED display, but significantly expanded the block of four cameras, which looks stylish, but very massive. In other aspects, the exterior is great, because it combines a glass back panel, a metal edging that cools the palm, a frameless 6.73-inch AMOLED screen. The applied display is able to please both the highest resolution of 3200x1440 pixels, and the excellent color reproduction of the image, its visibility even in direct sunlight, and a 120-Hz picture refresh rate. The technology of the sub-screen fingerprint sensor has also been improved. Both the area and the accuracy of its work have been increased.
It's foolish to expect mediocre specifications from a flagship Android smartphone. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU, 8GB to 12GB of RAM and Adreno 730 graphics accelerator leave no chance for modern games to slow down. It is possible to notice a decrease in the framerate only with the maximum graphics presets in the resource-intensive Fortnite and Genshin Impact, and even then after 30-60 minutes of gameplay. The reason for this behavior of applications lies in the throttling of the chipset and its strong heating. The mentioned processor cannot boast of energy efficiency, but a 4860 mAh battery comes as a safety net. With it, the device is ready to function for about a day and a half, and in addition to wired charging with a power of 67W, a wireless method (50W) is also provided. The minimum amount of internal storage is 256GB, so you won’t have to be sad about the lack of a microSD card slot. The version with 512GB of ROM is definitely enough for everyone.
The main 50- (main sensor Sony IMX989), 48-megapixel (wide-angle module and telephoto lens with five times optical zoom) photosensors and TOF-module surprise the results of both day and evening photo shoots. On night shots, it is easy to see the smallest details that are not spoiled by noise. Videos are smooth even in 8K resolution thanks to the hybrid stabilization system worked out to the smallest detail. Surprisingly, the ergonomic and thin phablet has moisture protection according to IP68 standards, it also has NFC contactless payments, support for 5G networks. Perhaps, in an almost perfect device, they can only consider the not always logical interface of the MIUI shell, and a somewhat overpriced price tag. But the photo opportunities are really at a height unattainable for competitors.
