Xiaomi Poco M8 Power 5G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Poco M8 Power 5G Overview
Xiaomi Poco M8 Power 5G – Pursuit of Battery Life
The Chinese company Xiaomi strives to create smartphones to suit every taste. Some models are more balanced, while others focus primarily on one specific parameter. Today's review subject tries to impress with a capacious battery, but other parameters for this price segment aren't always impressive.
The appearance of the new device is not bad, but rather standard for its class. The stylish yet unique camera module, the variety of rear panel colors, and the in-display fingerprint scanner leave a pleasant impression, but water resistance only meets IP65 standards, the bottom bezel is wide, and the screen is primarily made of inexpensive plastic. The 6.99-inch AMOLED panel is decent. Yes, it lacks a bit of sharpness at Full HD+ resolution, but it delivers smooth content at a 120 Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 2000 nits, and calibrated color rendition. However, there's virtually no oleophobic coating.
The specifications include a fourth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 processor, 6GB/8GB of RAM, and an Adreno 613 GPU. While this isn't a gaming setup, it's sufficient for everyday use and working with Android 16. A score of approximately 450,000 points in the AnTuTu v10 benchmark means you can play Genshin Impact, Fortnite, and other resource-intensive games, albeit at low graphics settings and with an occasionally unstable frame rate. However, power efficiency is excellent, with an 8000 mAh battery lasting approximately three days. The internal storage is 128/256GB, but there's a dedicated microSD card slot.
Photography capabilities are basic. The secondary 2-megapixel portrait sensor is essentially useless, and the main 50-megapixel Omnivision sensor lacks optical stabilization, so even artistic daylight photography can be challenging. Blur and noise are common. There's no stereo sound or headphone jack, so music lovers will be disappointed. However, the list of advantages includes NFC contactless payments and 5G support. Thus, this is a long-lasting device, but one that's not without its many controversial aspects. A purchase that won't cause any negatives or delights.
