Xiaomi Redmi 12C Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi 12C Overview
Xiaomi Redmi 12C - forced deterioration?
The current economic crisis has affected literally every major company. The Chinese corporation Xiaomi did not stand aside. Increased prices for components have significantly complicated the task of maintaining the old pricing policy. That is why we get either more expensive devices of the same class, or simply worse gadgets with an updated model number. The hero of today's review belongs to the latter category.
The appearance of the novelty is, perhaps, its only improvement. The rear panel stylized as carbon fiber, a prettier dual camera unit combined with a fingerprint scanner, interesting body colors make it possible to positively evaluate the design and almost ignore the outdated design of the 5-megapixel selfie camera. The 6.71-inch IPS display delivers image quality similar to its predecessor. A modest resolution of 1650 x 720 pixels, a standard 60 Hz refresh rate and a far from record-breaking margin of brightness are unlikely to surprise a sophisticated user, but using the phablet indoors is comfortable.
The technical specifications are now the MediaTek Helio G85 CPU, 4GB / 6GB of RAM and the Mali G52MC2 video adapter. The chipset is equal in performance to the previously used Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, but is somewhat inferior in energy efficiency. However, getting the cherished 10+ hours of active screen time from a 5000mAh battery is still real. The gaming capabilities are not wide, but you can play your favorite Call Of Duty and PUBG with medium graphic presets. Genshin Impact and projects similar in resource intensity will frustrate with jamming and friezes. The size of the internal storage was 64/128GB, but they can always be expanded with MicroSD cards in a separate slot.
The main cameras are a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor and a 2-megapixel auxiliary depth sensor. This is a frankly budget, but still workable solution that can provide detailed daytime shots without an abundance of blurry details. At night, even a special shooting mode does not save, the amount of noise exceeds reasonable limits. NFC contactless payments are available in a number of regional versions of the device, it is recommended to check with the seller for their availability. There is no infrared port for controlling household appliances, there is also no stereo sound, the USB Type-C port has disappeared, and the battery charging speed has decreased. Thus, we have a rather mediocre device, which is unequivocally recommended for purchase due to many simplifications.
