Xiaomi Redmi K100 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi K100 Overview
Xiaomi Redmi K100 – a new bestseller in China
This year, Chinese company Xiaomi decided to simply blow away its competitors with the updated K-series of smartphones. With a slight price increase, the manufacturer managed to improve the performance and functionality of all models without exception. And even the youngest member of the line is incredibly attractive in every respect.
The new model boasts a stylish yet understated exterior. The neat camera module is integrated into a single design element with a cutout for the subwoofer. The glass panels are available in several colors to suit every taste, and the frame is made of durable metal. It's worth noting that despite its ergonomic design and modest thickness, the device is IP69 water-resistant. The 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2772x1280 pixels features a built-in fingerprint sensor and is virtually bezel-less. The displayed image has decent clarity, but the 185Hz refresh rate delivers incredible smoothness. Peak brightness rises well above 4000 nits, and the image remains perfectly visible in direct sunlight. The touch panel is responsive, suitable even for gamers, with PWM suppression and color reproduction flawless.
Technical specifications include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 CPU, 12GB of RAM, and an Adreno 840 GPU. Minimal lag is eliminated in HyperOS (Android 16), resource-intensive games are playable at maximum graphics presets, and the frame rate is stable, reaching 100 frames per second even in Genshin Impact. Passive cooling is slightly lacking during long gaming sessions, with throttling occurring, but without noticeably impacting gameplay. The 8000mAh battery guarantees excellent battery life of 10-12 hours of screen-on time or more. Both wired (100W) and wireless (50W) charging are fast. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB.
Photography capabilities have been significantly improved compared to its predecessors. Hybrid image stabilization has been retained for both the main 200MP sensor and the 50MP periscope telephoto lens (3x optical zoom). Noise, blur, and other artifacts are far from critical, even in challenging shooting scenarios. The wide-angle 50MP sensor isn't as advanced, but it's useful for daytime artistic photo shoots. Rich, bass-heavy stereo sound, 5G and NFC support, and an IR port round out the list of pros, but the lack of FDD-LTE B7 and a couple of untranslated apps and services for China are among the cons. There are two options: either ignore these shortcomings or wait for a global version from POCO. But it's hard to resist buying such a high-end device as soon as possible.
