ZTE Nubia Red Magic 12S Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
ZTE Nubia RedMagic 12S Pro Overview
ZTE Nubia RedMagic 12S Pro – a gaming delight
Gaming smartphones rarely become bestsellers, but demand for them is constant. After all, the Android OS has long been packed with a huge number of games and console emulators, appealing to a huge number of users. And today's review subject will open the door to this bottomless world of entertainment, while providing excellent functionality, battery life, and other features so important to today's audiences.
The appearance of the new device isn't much different from its predecessors, but that shouldn't be considered a drawback. The virtually bezel-less display, an integrated fingerprint scanner, and the signature 16-megapixel under-display selfie camera, stunning touch-sensitive trigger keys, a barely visible sensor cluster, and rear glass panels in stylish, high-tech colors create an impressive and memorable exterior. The nearly 7-inch AMOLED panel impresses with its 3200x1440 pixel resolution, offering stunning clarity without sacrificing power efficiency. Peak brightness reaches 4000 nits, ensuring you won't have to hide from the sun's rays. It also boasts a record-breaking 185 Hz refresh rate. The touchscreen is incredibly accurate, delivering realistic color reproduction.
Despite its IP68 water resistance, the device features an active cooling system. It significantly reduces heat and throttling thanks to its advanced technical specifications, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 CPU in the Pro configuration, 12/16GB of RAM, and an Adreno 850 GPU. AnTuTu benchmark scores exceed 4,500,000 points, and all resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero run at 150+ frames per second at maximum graphics settings. The battery has been boosted to an impressive 11,000 mAh, which can realistically last 2-3 days. Wireless charging at 50 W is complemented by wired charging at 120 W, so charging to 100% capacity won't take long. Internal storage options include 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1024 GB.
Photography capabilities have improved, but not dramatically. There's still no telephoto lens; the main 200-megapixel camera module with hybrid stabilization is the only one capable of excellent quality. It's already promising detailed photos and videos for evening photo sessions. The secondary 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and 2-megapixel macro camera won't be used as often, however, as they're significantly less powerful. However, the stereo speakers are uncompromisingly loud, with rich, immersive sound. NFC, 5G, an IR port, and dedicated gaming software round out the list of advantages and help the device outperform most competitors.
