ZTE Nubia Z50 Ultra Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
ZTE Nubia Z50 Ultra Overview
ZTE Nubia Z50 Ultra - rigorous innovation
The Chinese company ZTE has not ceased to amaze buyers with great flagships at more than reasonable prices for the last couple of years. The hero of today's review is cheaper than most opponents, but at the same time it provides several competitive advantages at once, which will be important factors for buying.
The appearance of the novelty is beautiful, unusual and more than relevant. The originality of the exterior is given both by a sub-screen 16-megapixel camera and the lack of frames of a flat 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, an attractive block of three photomodules. Of course, the representative of the highest price segment is distinguished by excellent assembly materials. The metal edging resists scratches and chips, and the tempered glass back panel pleasantly cools the palm. The quality of the picture displayed by the AMOLED display not only meets modern standards, but exceeds them. The image is extremely detailed thanks to a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels, its smoothness is also impressive, as the refresh rate has reached 144Hz. Of course, all of the above would not surprise so much without accurate color reproduction, brightness and 1500 nits, a high-quality oleophobic coating, and an under-screen fingerprint sensor.
The presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 8GB / 12GB / 16GB of RAM and the Adreno 740 video core in the role of technical characteristics evokes extremely positive emotions. This is the most productive bundle that can compete in benchmarks with almost recent chipsets for stationary personal computers. Any games and applications are played at maximum graphics settings, the performance of the Android 13 operating system is phenomenal. Sometimes it seems that the interface is ahead of the user's actions. At the same time, the CPU avoided the problems with throttling, characteristic of many of its predecessors. The situation with energy consumption is also not bad. The 5000mAh battery provides about one and a half days of gadget operation. Fast wired (80W) charging is provided. 256GB / 512GB / 1024GB of ROM also do not cause any complaints.
In terms of photo capabilities, we have a full-fledged camera phone. If the aforementioned selfie camera under the AMOLED panel still lags behind its more familiar counterparts, then the 64- (Sony IMX787 main sensor and 3x telephoto lens) and 50-megapixel (wide-angle lens) photosensors are close to being the best. Even in the hands of an inexperienced photographer, the modules will create clear, rich shots without a hint of blur or noise. The video sequence recorded in 8K resolution is also not subject to criticism. Stereo sound is characterized by a fairly balanced frequency response, in which even mid-bass has a place. The list of additional advantages of the model is expanded by the support of 5G networks, NFC contactless payments. The only pity is that the list did not include moisture protection according to IP68 standards. However, even without it, the gadget looks like a contender for the status of an international hit.
