AGM H5 Pro - notable improvements that are not enough for success

The manufacturer of secure smartphones called AGM has lost a lot of popularity in the modern market. The reason is that the developer set too high a bar for quality in previous models, which he was no longer able to achieve due to budget constraints. The hero of today's review, although it turned out to be more interesting than its predecessor, is still inferior to competitors at a similar price.

The design of the novelty is not without originality. An LED circle on the rear panel as a notification indicator, photomodules located on the sides of it, a carbon texture of the case, a side fingerprint scanner distinguish the phone from other IP68 alternatives. It's a pity that the huge dimensions of the device and wide display frames, typical for the segment, have not disappeared anywhere. The 6.52-inch IPS screen has not undergone a metamorphosis, which is disappointing. The IPS-panel has a modest resolution of 1600x720 pixels, low brightness and contrast values, and it does not have the popular high refresh rate.

Specifications will no longer receive such a flurry of criticism. The MediaTek Helio G85 CPU with 8GB of RAM and the Mali G52 MC2 GPU is significantly better at Android 12 interface and provides at least basic gaming experience. If the gameplay of technological projects like Genshin Impact is not comfortable, then it is quite possible to have successful battles in Call Of Duty or PUBG. The impressive size of the monoblock helps the chipset avoid throttling, the energy-efficient processor has no problems with autonomy. A 7000mAh battery needs to be charged every 2-3 days, but the charging process itself will take an immodest 6-7 hours. For some people, such shortcomings in the battery will be a serious drawback. 128GB of internal memory is allocated, while expanding it with MicroSD cards will not work.

The 48-megapixel Samsung GM2 sensor is a fairly budget module that guarantees clear and detailed pictures only during the day and in clear weather. In the evening it will be difficult not to notice the appearance of numerous noises, some of the details on the frame will be blurry. If the 2MP macro lens is useless, the 20MP night vision sensor takes decent monochrome photos and videos and is useful, for example, for hunting. There is no stereo, but the loud mono speaker is endowed with a deep and rich sound. Contactless NFC payments are present, but they and all of the above cannot compensate for mediocre performance, a low-quality screen, lack of wireless recharging, and an overpriced price tag.
