Although the American company Apple specializes in creating smartphones of the highest price category, it does not forget about buyers with a limited budget. Especially for them, once every couple of years, the corporation releases SE-series phones, which are slightly inferior to flagship solutions in functionality and design. However, in the case of the hero of today's review, the difference is not so significant, but the price tag of the device is already much more democratic.

The appearance of the new product resembles that of the 14th model of the main line. A similar shape of the case made of glass and metal and a similar large cutout for the front 12-megapixel camera (plus an IR sensor for face recognition) testify to this fact. But on the back panel there is only one photo module, but moisture protection according to IP68 standards has not disappeared. The 6.1-inch AMOLED display received a resolution of 2532x1170 pixels, due to which excellent picture clarity is achieved. We can praise both the error-free color rendering and the peak brightness of about 1500 nits. But they saved on the increased image refresh rate, which looks sad. The smoothness of the content is higher even with alternatives that are twice or three times cheaper.

But the technical characteristics are based on the proprietary A18 processor, working with 8 GB of RAM. The chipset is superbly optimized, the iOS operating system interface is incredibly responsive, applications open in a split second. The CPU result in the AnTuTu benchmark is impressive, although not a record (1,500,000 points), but all game projects without exception are played with a stable frame rate at maximum graphics settings. The permanent memory is allocated 128/256/512 GB, depending on the configuration and the thickness of the wallet. The battery capacity is 3110 mAh. Not much, but software optimization helps to achieve about 7-8 hours of active screen time from such a battery. Wired charging is slow by today's standards (20W), but there is a wireless analog at 15W.

The only main 48-megapixel photo sensor with hybrid stabilization, of course, will not replace a wide-angle module or a telephoto lens. However, a high-quality camera copes well with many complex shooting scenarios. You can not be afraid to create evening shots for social networks, and dynamic scenes are not full of blur and noise. Contactless NFC payments, support for 5G networks and eSIM make the imperfect, but still technological and interesting device a candidate for future hits.
