Sometimes it is really difficult for smartphone manufacturers to create a sequel to a successful product. When the phone already possesses advanced technical characteristics, a number of innovative solutions in terms of design and an abundance of other advantages, the developers can only slightly update the working formula.

The appearance of the novelty largely repeats that of its predecessor, the folding mechanism of the triple camera is present and, perhaps, it is the strongest side of the exterior. The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen still has small bezels, and we can see the combination of glass and metal in the structure of the body in other flagships. The AMOLED display has moved forward in terms of brightness and contrast, but the resolution ( 2400x1080 pixels) and the image refresh rate ( 120Hz ) remained the same. As a result, the displayed picture is worthy of a good, but still not an excellent assessment within the price segment. The in-screen fingerprint sensor is more than efficient, but errors in its operation are sometimes encountered.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU is a top-end "stone" for the most productive Android smartphones, but its heating is not completely restrained by the installed cooling system. The chipset with 8GB / 12GB of RAM and the Adreno 730 video adapter provides smooth gameplay in demanding games, but only for the first half hour or hour. Even in the same Fornite or Genshin Impact, freezes and jams are possible with maximum graphics presets. The energy efficiency of the processor in comparison with the previous 888th chip has improved, now a 5000mAh battery is more often enough for a day and a half of active interaction with the phablet. The flagship Android phone lacks a microSD card slot, but it's not really needed with 128 / 256GB of ROM.

50-, 12- and 8-megapixel cameras are close to bringing the device to the title of a camera phone. The main Sony IMX766 sensor with optical stabilization copes with difficult shooting scenarios without noticeable problems. The pictures are detailed, noise reduction works correctly, while it does not blur the smallest objects in the frame. Videos in 4K and 8K resolution are also decent. The telephoto lens is characterized by 3x zoom, there is not much savings on the wide-angle lens. The stereo sound may not be the loudest in the world, but it is quite deep and balanced. Wireless charging, coupled with NFC contactless payments, 5G connectivity and the previously mentioned competitive advantages, justifies the asking price tag, but the absence of tangible changes is unlikely to increase sales of the device.
