Blackview BL8800 Pro 5G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Blackview BL8800 Pro 5G Overview
Blackview BL8800 Pro 5G - not quite what we expected
The Chinese company Blackview is no longer a newcomer to the smartphone market. Although the corporation has not become a leader, it has a fairly large number of fans who want to see not only low and middle price segment phones in the manufacturer's assortment. And although the company has the ability to produce a full-fledged flagship, it still creates models that are controversial in functionality and performance, endowed with peculiar competitive advantages.
The appearance of the novelty is clearly not its strong point. If the excessive thickness and deliberate brutality of rubberized elements have become standard things for inexpensive Android smartphones with moisture protection according to IP68 standards, then the wide display bezels and the outdated design of the 16-megapixel selfie camera are already an oversight of the developer. But there are no significant problems with the 6.58-inch IPS screen. The eye-pleasing picture in terms of brightness is not without FullHD + resolution. Thus, the final image differs in excellent clearness. Only direct sunlight reminds us that we are far from having a top-end screen.
In the flagship Android phone, I would like to see something more powerful than the Mediatek Dimensity 700 CPU. This is a good, but still budget solution, which even with 8GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC2 graphics core is unlikely to please gamers. If not very resource-intensive titles like PUBG function well and even perfectly, but such epithets will not fit the demanding Fortnite and Genshin Impact. Even with minimal graphics presets, lags and friezes are noticeable. But with the mentioned minuses, one cannot fail to note the energy efficiency of the processor. With a huge battery of 8380mAh, the gadget will ask you to look for an outlet for it once every two days. The battery also has fast charging at 33W. The size of the ROM was 128GB, there is no slot for microSD cards
The 50-, 5- and 2-megapixel cameras are topped by the Samsung JN1 sensor and include a thermal imager. The function is unusual, interesting, but rarely necessary in everyday life. As for other modules, they provide an acceptable level of detail in photos and videos during daytime shooting, but they lose image quality when the evening comes or the dynamics of events increase. NFC contactless payments are available, as is 5G support, but stereo sound and wireless charging are omitted to keep costs down. Unfortunately, the low-performance chipset for the proposed price tag, mediocre photo capabilities and a number of other shortcomings do not allow us to unequivocally recommend the phablet for purchase.
