Blackview Color 8 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Blackview Color 8 Overview
Blackview Color 8 - battery life, style and... nothing else?
It seems that the ability to create extremely balanced and competitive smartphones is gradually leaving Chinese manufacturers. More and more often, experienced corporations release rather controversial phones with obvious disadvantages that should not be there for the requested money. The hero of today's review is not ideal either. It has something to counter its opponents with, but the disadvantages will be critical for some users.
The appearance of the phablet definitely deserves compliments. A variety of and sometimes very original colors of cases made of high-quality plastic are complemented by a stylish dual camera block, a side fingerprint scanner. The display frames are not the widest (except for the bottom one), but the outdated design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera is slightly disappointing. The 6.75-inch IPS screen is frankly inexpensive, which is noticeable both by the modest HD+ resolution and by the low peak brightness of 500 nits. The situation is being improved by properly configured color rendition and smoothness at a 90-Hz image frequency.
The technical specifications are presented by the standard UNISOC Tiger T616 CPU for the price category, 8 GB of RAM and a Mali G57MC1 graphics accelerator. Some competitors already have a MediaTek Helio G99, which greatly exceeds the specified chipset in performance (400,000 versus 250,000 points in the AnTuTu test). As a result, the Android 14 interface is practically lag-free, but these words are no longer so relevant for resource-intensive games. You won’t be able to enjoy Genshin Impact or Diablo Immortal even with minimal graphics presets; you’ll have to put up with frequent lags. But the device functions for a couple of days of active use from a 6000 mAh battery. There is also a relatively fast 18W charger. The internal storage can be allocated 128 or 256 GB, which can be easily expanded with MicroSD cards.
It is unlikely that many buyers will expect advanced photo capabilities from an affordable gadget. 50- and 2-megapixel modules without optical stabilization are simple, but still functional. The photo sensors manage to capture text and static objects during the day with good detail, but complex shooting scenarios are recommended to be avoided. There is no stereo sound, but owners of wired headphones will not be disappointed by the lack of a jack for them. But contactless NFC payments are not provided, which is puzzling in 2024. Thus, the device has too many bottlenecks, which is why it is more logical to prefer more technological alternatives.
