Cubot A20 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot A20 Overview
Cubot A20 - an inexpensive, but not quite ordinary smartphone
Creating a successful phone in the low price segment is not so easy. This fact is especially relevant for manufacturers that do not belong to the first echelon. A small budget does not allow saving on scale, so developers have to come up with other ways to attract the audience and at the same time distract it from the sometimes not very impressive technical characteristics. The Chinese company Cubot, the hero of today's review, tried to do something similar.
The design of the new product is its strong point. Of course, it has some shortcomings, such as the lack of a fingerprint scanner or the outdated design of the 16-megapixel selfie camera, but they are completely redeemed by the incredibly beautiful combination of a dual camera unit and an additional 1.83-inch display. The latter is needed to display notifications, help in working with photo modules and for other operations. The main 6.75-inch IPS screen does not amaze the imagination with the clarity of the picture at HD+ resolution, but it is endowed with good smoothness at a 90-Hz refresh rate, natural color rendition. But the brightness could be higher than the modest 500 nits, you will have to look for shade in sunny weather.
The UNISOC Tiger T616 processor, 4 GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC1 video core are a frequently used bundle in the cost category. And for good reason. Performance in the region of 250 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark guarantees a fairly smooth and responsive operation of Android 14. Gaming capabilities are higher than basic, but are slightly limited by the amount of RAM. So, it is better to forget about resource-intensive Genshin Impact and Fortnite, but Zenless Zone Zero with advanced graphics is available with minimal presets. ROM is allocated 128 GB. For some users, this internal storage will not be enough, so the MicroSD card slot will come in handy. As for battery life, it has reached 8-10 hours of active screen time thanks to the use of a 5100 mAh battery. But there is no fast charging, so you need to leave your mobile assistant near a socket overnight.
The main 48- and 0.3-megapixel cameras are suitable not only for video calls. If desired, they can capture good daytime photos without excess noise and blurry objects. But it is recommended to forget about evening shooting. There is no stereo sound, and a separate headphone jack has been removed. The lack of NFC will be critical for some buyers. As a result, we have a stylish device that is more suitable for the role of a second device. It will definitely find its fan, but it will not be a hit due to its unpleasant disadvantages.
