Cubot J20 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot J20 Overview
Cubot J20 - compact and useless
The Chinese company Cubot continues to lose its popularity even against the backdrop of not the largest smartphone manufacturers. The lack of a well-developed marketing campaign, along with an abundance of extremely controversial products, negatively affects both the image of the developer and his commercial success. The hero of today's review will definitely not be able to improve the state of affairs of the company, because it is not so easy to find advantages in it.
The appearance of the novelty is simply bad. The huge bezels of the screen, the 2-megapixel front camera placed outside it, the savings on the fingerprint scanner, the outdated single camera module and the cheap plastic case are unlikely to cause positive emotions even for an unpretentious user. The 4-inch IPS screen is not so frustrating. A resolution of 854x480 pixels provides good image clarity with such a small diagonal, and the color reproduction is close to realistic. Of course, there is no need to talk about an impressive margin of brightness or an increased refresh rate of the picture.
Specifications say hello from 2018. The MediaTek MT6739 CPU, 2GB of RAM and the PowerVR GE8100 GPU can barely handle even the lightweight interface of Android 12 GO. Launching browsers, instant messengers and similar applications sometimes takes a few seconds, only 2D projects will be available from games. Of course, you can try to enjoy the gameplay of World Of Tanks Blitz or PUBG with minimal graphic presets, but the pleasure will be very controversial due to friezes and lags. 16GB of ROM is not enough memory for a modern person. If photos, videos and other multimedia files can still be sent to a MicroSD card, then such measures will not work with Whatsapp, Telegram data.
The main 5-megapixel photomodule, although equipped with autofocus, is not always ready to capture even text under ideal lighting conditions. A slight movement of the hand - the photo is replete with blurs. Evening shots and indoor shots are full of noise. The only speaker is quite quiet, sometimes you can miss an important call with it. Of course, the gadget and NFC contactless payments were bypassed. As a result, the device turned out to be absolutely uncompetitive.
