Cubot KingKong ES 3 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot KingKong ES 3 Overview
Cubot KingKong ES 3 - simplified, but not mediocre
The demand for smartphones protected from dust and moisture according to IP68 standards is present in all price segments. And, perhaps, the biggest problems for manufacturers arise with inexpensive devices, because they need to maintain a reasonable cost price with adequate functionality. The Chinese company Cubot definitely tried to make the hero of today's review balanced and in demand, but a number of things still went wrong.
The appearance of the new product is unlikely to be the reason for choosing it for purchase. The impressive dimensions of the rubberized case are combined with the outdated design of the 16-megapixel selfie camera, the lack of a fingerprint scanner in order to reduce the attractiveness of the exterior. The beautiful texture of the back panel and the current design of the camera block do not improve the situation too much. The 6.75-inch IPS screen has such strengths as smooth content at a refresh rate of 90 Hz, relatively realistic color rendition. But the picture clarity is average due to the HD+ resolution, and the maximum brightness is modest, 450 nits is clearly not enough to work with the device in the open sun.
The technical characteristics are quite standard for the class. The UNISOC Tiger T615 CPU, 6 GB of RAM and the Mali G57-MC1 video core do not make the Android 15 interface perfectly smooth, but no serious lags will be found in its functioning. With games, everything is more complicated. Old 3D projects run with a comfortable frame rate, but the chipset cannot cope with resource-intensive applications like Genshin Impact. In fact, the player will see a slide show. But the autonomy is amazing, but for this you should rather thank the 10200 mAh battery. You will have to look for sockets once every 3-4 days, and fast charging at 33W is better than that of most of the device's opponents. The permanent memory is 256 GB, it can be easily expanded with MicroSD cards.
The photo capabilities are not outstanding, but they could be worse. Auxiliary 2 and 0.3-megapixel photo sensors are installed for beauty, the main 48-megapixel module is more serious, but is suitable only for daytime shooting. Without optical stabilization, it will not be easy to cope with evening photo sessions, the photos will be drowned in noise and blur. There is no stereo sound, the only speaker is loud, but the sound is distorted, without bass. Of the positive aspects, we highlight the presence of contactless payments NFC, they still did not save on them. Thus, before us is a good representative of the cost category, the disadvantages of which will still negatively affect sales in such a competitive market.
