Cubot KingKong Mini 4 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot KingKong Mini 4 Overview
Cubot KingKong Mini 4 – Small, but Not So Big
Demand for compact smartphones with improved ergonomics will always exist. There's even demand for compact "armored vehicles" with IP68 water resistance. However, in this segment, the reduction in size often leads to the loss of the key competitive advantages of such devices. The hero of today's review is no exception.
The new device's appearance is not bad, but the reduced size of the all-in-one device makes the huge display bezels even more noticeable. However, the unusual texture of the rubberized case, the stylish camera design, the side fingerprint scanner, and the modern form factor of the 16-megapixel selfie camera make this drawback less of a concern. The nearly 5-inch IPS display has an optimal resolution of 1600x720 pixels for its diagonal size, and a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother content and natural color reproduction. However, the brightness is modest, and direct sunlight reduces the visibility of the displayed image to almost zero.
The technical specifications, featuring a UNISOC Tiger T616 CPU, 6GB/8GB of RAM, and a Mali G57MC1 GPU, certainly won't blow you away with their performance. We achieved around 250,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark and the Android 15 OS runs relatively smoothly with occasional UI lag. Gaming capabilities, however, are extremely limited; truly resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact are best forgotten. Gameplay will feel more like a slideshow. Battery life is average for its class, as the device only houses a 4700mAh battery. You'll need to charge your mobile assistant every six weeks, but unfortunately, the 18W fast charging only lasts for 2-3 hours. The built-in memory is 128/256GB, and there's a microSD card slot.
The main 48-megapixel camera lacks optical image stabilization, so it's recommended for daytime shooting. Evening shots are typically marred by noise and blur. There's no stereo sound, and listening to music through the single speaker isn't particularly comfortable due to the curved frequency response. As for the device's other advantages, NFC contactless payments come to mind. Ultimately, this is a rather niche device that's difficult to recommend to everyone due to its many shortcomings.
