Cubot KingKong X Pro Overview
Cubot KingKong X Pro - unexpected improvements
The Chinese company Cubot sometimes takes extremely unusual, but at the same time effective steps to increase the popularity of its products. Thus, the corporation recently released a major update of the KingKong line of smartphones with moisture protection according to IP68 standards, which turned out to be much more interesting in terms of performance and functionality. But suddenly the developer decided to release an even more powerful device that will suit even gamers.
The appearance of the new product is similar to that of its predecessor, but the monoblock itself has become larger due to the IPS display that has grown to 6.72 inches. Increased strength and protection from dust and moisture have had a negative impact on the dimensions of the rubberized case, and the wide display frames and outdated design of the 32-megapixel selfie camera raise questions. But the additional 1.85-inch screen for displaying time and notifications, a stylish dual camera unit, the original texture of the back panel and the side fingerprint scanner do not allow the exterior to evoke only negative emotions. The previously mentioned IPS panel received a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels, which is enough for image clarity. The 144-Hz frame rate gives the picture excellent smoothness, and there is also a natural rendition of colors. But the peak brightness of 650 nits is not inspiring, because direct sunlight reduces the visibility of the content to almost zero.
But the technical characteristics are impressive. The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 CPU, 12 GB of RAM and the Mali G610MC6 video adapter are an amazing bundle for a mid-range device. It scores about 850 thousand points in the AnTuTu test and does not suffer from excessive power consumption or throttling. All modern games function without lags at high or even maximum graphics presets. At the same time, the use of the chipset together with a 10200 mAh battery brought the autonomy of the phablet to an impressive 3-4 days of active work. But the charging power is the same. Still, 33W is not enough for such a battery, you will have to be near the outlet for several hours. The permanent memory is allocated 256 GB, there is a MicroSD slot for its expansion.
The gadget's photo capabilities are represented by a 100-megapixel main module from Omnivision and a 5-megapixel macro lens. Both sensors lack optical stabilization, so you should not expect flagship photo quality. However, the photo modules try their best to ensure that even evening shots do not turn into an abundance of noise. There is no stereo sound, but one speaker produces a good volume of about 85 dB, and the bass is also audible. There are also NFC contactless payments, and a modified Android 14, and a gyroscope. Thus, we have one of the best IP68 smartphones for its money.
