Cubot Max 5 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot Max 5 Overview
Cubot Max 5 - a significant improvement to the series
The Max line of smartphones from the Chinese company Cubot has never been famous for its crazy sales. These were fairly balanced phones with a competitive advantage in the form of large displays, but often competitors were ahead of the devices in both performance and functionality. However, the hero of today's review decided to correct this situation, and radically.
The appearance of the new product resembles that of gaming Android smartphones. This is evidenced by the texture of the back panel, made of good polycarbonate, however, on the side there is only a fingerprint scanner without touch trigger buttons. The block of three photomodules almost does not protrude from the body; the frames of the huge 6.95-inch IPS display are not wide. To reduce costs, the developer used an IPS panel. As a result, we have a reasonable resolution for a diagonal of 2460x1080 pixels, impressive image smoothness at a refresh rate of 144Hz, good color reproduction, but at the same time a modest brightness reserve of 600+ nits.
With technical characteristics, everything is more clear. The excellent MediaTek Dimensity 8200 processor with support for 5G networks, along with 12GB of RAM and the Mali G610MC6 graphics accelerator, scores just under a million points in the AnTuTu test, so the buyer will be able to try out all the latest games. Genshin Impact, Fortnite, Honkai: Star Rail - all of the listed projects are pleasing with a stable frame rate with medium-high graphics presets. At maximum settings, slight stuttering is sometimes possible. With Android 14 interface and less demanding apps, things are even better. 256GB of permanent memory is allocated, but it can always be increased with MicroSD cards.
Traces of savings can be seen in the photographic capabilities. The auxiliary 5-megapixel (macro camera) and 2-megapixel (portrait sensor) modules are easier to criticize than to praise. The main 100-megapixel photo module is capable of high-quality daytime photographs, but gives in to evening photography due to the lack of optical stabilization. Noise appears, small objects become blurry. But there is also loud stereo sound, NFC contactless payments, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. A 5100 mAh battery is responsible for autonomy, providing about a day and a half of operation of the phablet. Fast charging with a power of 33W is included. Thus, the gadget has an amazing chipset for the price category, and also does not lag behind its opponents in other respects.
