Cubot Note 40 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot Note 40 Overview
Cubot Note 40 - simplifications that should not be made
The Chinese company Cubot is definitely keeping an eye on the smartphone market and does not forget to adopt the tactics and strategies of its opponents. However, theirs is the release of several versions of the same phone with different names. Minor changes in technical characteristics and other parameters can significantly increase the range of products offered. However, the hero of today's review is too simplified even compared to his not-so-technological predecessor.
The appearance of the new product leaves mixed emotions. First of all, the wide frames of the display, the absence of a fingerprint scanner, and the outdated 8-megapixel selfie camera catch your eye. Perhaps, only the block of main photo modules and the variety of body colors are capable of attracting attention. The 6.56-inch IPS panel deserves more compliments. Of course, a modest resolution of 1612x720 pixels is not enough for a truly detailed image, but a good supply of brightness, a 90-Hz image refresh rate and close-to-natural color reproduction make up for this shortcoming.
The choice of processor is not surprising, because the eight-core UNISOC Tiger T606 is today virtually the only inexpensive chipset that is ready to ensure decent functioning of Android 13 and relatively quick launch of applications. 6GB of RAM helps expand the gaming capabilities of the chip. Thus, not the most resource-intensive Call Of Duty or PUBG Mobile will be available to the user, the gameplay is smooth, without lags or slowdowns. Of course, for the most demanding Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, the CPU will no longer be suitable. Providing excellent autonomy is a 5200mAh battery. You need to look for an outlet once every day and a half, but the battery is deprived of fast charging.
50- and 2-megapixel photo modules led by Samsung JN1 have also become a standard combination for low-price mobile assistants. You don’t need to count on the highest detail in photos and videos, but getting clear daytime shots is still possible with minimal object dynamics. The speaker is quite quiet, there are only hints of bass. NFC contactless payments have disappeared, which will reduce the attractiveness of the gadget for part of the audience. Thus, it is recommended to take a closer look at the older brother of the device, which is devoid of critical shortcomings.
