Cubot X100 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Cubot X100 Overview
Cubot X100 – A Failed Chase for Competitors
Unfortunately, the Chinese company Cubot is increasingly lagging behind the most successful Chinese manufacturers. This is evident in the technical specifications of its new products, their design, and other aspects. The subject of today's review is no exception to this unfortunate rule.
The phone's appearance is replete with both positive and negative aspects. It's hard to miss the wide screen bezels, the 16-megapixel front camera form factor, which is a direct descendant of 2018, and the widespread use of plastic instead of tempered glass or metal. At the same time, the texture of the rear panel and the chosen color options look modern, and the camera module is also beautiful, combining into a single design element with a secondary 1.72-inch display for displaying notifications and other simple functions. The main 6.88-inch IPS display is unpleasantly surprising with its low HD+ resolution, which, given the screen's size, results in mediocre clarity. Peak brightness isn't impressive either, but it does offer a 120Hz refresh rate and relatively natural color reproduction.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7025 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and IMG BXM-8-256 GPU are a decent combination for the price segment, with 5G support. It scores around 500,000 points in AnTuTu and keeps the Android 15 interface from bogging down with lag. Gaming capabilities aren't likely to satisfy the needs of seasoned gamers, but even resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact can run with a fairly stable frame rate. However, graphics settings should be set to minimum or near-minimum. Oddly, the developer decided to leave only 256GB of storage without a microSD card slot. This decision is questionable. Battery life, however, is solid, as the combination of an energy-efficient chipset and a 5100mAh battery delivers approximately 9-10 hours of active screen time. 33W fast charging is also available.
Photography capabilities are also questionable, like many of the device's previously mentioned features. The secondary 5-megapixel wide-angle lens and 2-megapixel macro camera are practically useless, and the main 64-megapixel sensor, without optical image stabilization, can't deliver good detail in evening photos. Stereo sound is present, but don't expect it to be of high quality or capacity. NFC contactless payments and a gyroscope add to the phablet's appeal, but they still aren't enough to make it competitive and relevant.
