Doogee S119 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
DOOGEE S119 Overview
DOOGEE S119 - a low-performance update
The range of smartphones from the Chinese company Doogee does not always lend itself to logic. Thus, a continuation of a popular model with a higher numerical value can suddenly lose productivity and some of its other competitive advantages. This is what happened to the hero of today's review.
The appearance of the new product cannot be seriously criticized. The phone, protected from dust and moisture according to IP68 standards, is certainly not the thinnest and most ergonomic, but these disadvantages are countered by the bright colors of the back panel, an additional display (used to display the date, notifications, help in working with the camera), a side fingerprint scanner, a number of decorative elements stylized as metal. The 6.72-inch IPS screen disappoints with wide frames and mediocre image smoothness, but its clarity at a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels is fine, and the color rendition is good. The brightness reserve of 650 nits is small, but it is still possible to see the picture in direct sunlight.
The technical characteristics are weaker than those of the previously released S118. The MediaTek MT8788 CPU is actually an analogue of the rather ancient Helio P60, so together with 8 GB of RAM and the Mali G72MP3 video adapter, the chipset scores only 220 thousand points in the AnTuTu test. The performance of the Android 14 interface is not bad, lags do not happen too often, but you will have to forget about demanding games. Genshin Impact, for example, slows down at any graphic settings. The permanent memory is allocated as much as 512 GB, but it is necessary to store multimedia content and not particularly resource-intensive game projects on it. There is also a slot for MicroSD cards. But with autonomy, everything is impeccable. The 10300mAh battery lasts more than 15 hours of active screen time, and there is also a fast charging with a power of 33W, which is not a record.
The cameras are decent for the price segment. The 20-megapixel night vision sensor serves as an addition to other modules and will be useful for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. The 5-megapixel wide-angle lens is simple but functional, and the main 100-megapixel sensor gives detailed and natural-color photos and videos during the day. Of course, with the onset of evening, the quality of the photo material will deteriorate, although the chance of getting a pleasant-looking photo remains. There is no stereo sound, and the device does not have a jack for wired headphones. But NFC is not cut out, so payments in hypermarkets are literally lightning fast. Thus, we have before us a rather simplified version of its predecessor, which, however, did not become cheaper. It is definitely impossible to recommend it for purchase.
