DOOGEE S200X - an unnecessary model?

An artificial expansion of the range is not always necessary for the manufacturer. Especially when it comes to a company like Doogee. This developer releases several dozen truly different gadgets every year, so the appearance of the hero of today's review, which practically duplicates the previously created S200 phone, is surprising.

The appearance of the new product is essentially completely identical to that of its predecessor. The only noticeable change is the new colors of rubberized cases with moisture protection according to IP68 standards. In general, the design of the device evokes positive emotions. It is easy to forgive its excessive dimensions and thickness thanks to the stylish triple photo module, a well-positioned additional 1.32-inch AMOLED display (displaying time, notifications, assistance in working with the camera), a side fingerprint scanner, an interesting texture of the candy bar. The 6.72-inch IPS screen is still the same, therefore, the advantages and disadvantages are similar. FullHD+ resolution is enough for image clarity, and there are no problems with its smoothness at a 120-Hz refresh rate. Color rendition is close to realistic, but the brightness reserve is modest against the background of AMOLED analogs.

Technical specifications are still the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 CPU, 12 GB of RAM and the Mali G68MC4 video accelerator. Its performance is not to be scolded even taking into account the increased price tag of the device. More than 500 thousand points in the AnTuTu test will be evidence of both the smooth functioning of the Android 14 interface and good gaming capabilities of the chipset. Even well-known resource-intensive projects like Fortnite are operational at low-medium graphics settings. The heating of the device is insignificant, throttling does not particularly manifest itself. The processor is also energy efficient, it is not difficult to get autonomy of 3-4 days of active use of the mobile assistant from a 10100 mAh battery. But for some reason the power is only 33W. You need to be near the outlet for more than two hours. The size of the permanent memory has been expanded to 512 GB, the slot for MicroSD cards has not disappeared anywhere.

Let's talk about photo capabilities. There are no metamorphoses here either. The auxiliary 20-megapixel night vision module has a rather narrow focus of application and will not be useful to everyone, the 2-megapixel macro camera is quite mediocre. Thus, only the main 100-megapixel sensor from Samsung will be really effective. It did not receive optical stabilization, but even without it, it guarantees excellent daytime shots, not the worst evening shots without a critical amount of noise. Stereo sound did not appear, but one large speaker will not let you miss an important call. NFC contactless payments and 5G modem support are in place. As a result, we have the same previous smartphone, but with an increased ROM volume.
