Doogee BL9000 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee BL9000 Overview
Doogee BL9000-farewell, charger
The number of long-playing smartphones is increasing every day. A growing number of manufacturers are trying to try their hand at this segment, which is becoming increasingly popular. Do not stay out and the Chinese company Doogee. The hero of today's review called BL9000 represents the average price segment of the market, however, according to the developer, the phone should be a worthy replacement for more expensive analogs from Blackview, Oukitel and other well-known brands. Is it really?
We will begin our acquaintance with the phone with packaging and bundling. And in these aspects, the gadget does not fall into the dirt face. In a solid and stylish black box made of cardboard with a pleasant coating like soft-touch, it's easy to detect not only the smartphone itself, but also a 5A 5V charger with a quick charge function, an adapter with OTG to a 3.5mm jack, an OTG adapter to USB for charging other devices, a standard pin for the SIM tray. However, the list of additional accessories does not end here. Under the device is another small box of cardboard, which hides a quality bumper cover , screen protective film, warranty card and instructions to the gadget. It should be noted that it is multilanguage, it includes Russian. Thus, the first impression of the device is purely positive.
The design of the novelty is good, but not devoid of shortcomings. Negative emotions can cause a large thickness of the device, its impressive weight and dimensions. Girls do not have to give such a phone exactly, because a representative of the beautiful half of humanity can not use it comfortably. On the other hand, the gadget with a capacious battery of 9000mAh and a screen diagonal of 5.99 inches and should not be compact and ultra-ergonomic. Advantages of the appearance of the device is also a lot.
Beautiful OGS - screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9, dual camera, fingerprint reader, stylized under the skin of the back panel, fine texture of the side faces will satisfy even the most demanding customers. The build quality of the device is at a high level. The body is felt monolithic, no backlashes and creaks are detected. Claims can only be expressed in volume buttons. They swing slightly up and down, click while shaking the smartphone. However, it is quite possible to accept this disadvantage.
The display of the phablet pleasantly surprises with a clear and saturated picture with a large margin of brightness. The resolution of 2160x1080 pixels does not give an opportunity to see individual pixels with the naked eye, the absence of an air gap between the glass and the sensor provides a chance to enjoy a contrasting image with a rather natural color rendition. The white balance has a bias towards warmth, but such a deviation can not be called critical. On the display directly from the factory is already glued a quality protective film, endowed with even the likeness of an oleophobic coating. Fingerprints are rubbed, though not without some effort. The reproduced image has close to maximum viewing angles. The picture is not distorted, it only loses its brightness when the gadget tilts extreme. Auto brightness works correctly, the reserve of brightness itself is sufficient even for direct sunlight.
Behavior of the display in the shade and in the sun.
Let's move on to the hardware of the device. For smooth operation of the device meets the modern eight-core processor Mediatek MT6763T , combined with impressive 6 GB of RAM and video chip Mali G71MP2 . A large amount of RAM allows you not to think about forcibly closing applications in the background. And, indeed, the smartphone without problems switched to minimized games and programs even a few hours after their discovery. Only Asphalt 9 got out of the list, folding in a few minutes. The reason for the behavior of the application is hard to explain. The technical characteristics themselves are balanced in terms of productivity and energy efficiency with a slant in the latter. Of course, without user-demanding games, the user will not remain, but you do not need to rely on outstanding graphics settings and high frame rate. In the popular benchmark Antutu 7.1.0, the device scored 83611 points , which is an average result.
In the World Of Tanks Blitz, on low graphics settings with enabled HD textures, Dodge gives an average of 55-60 frames per second with a rare drawdown of up to 40 frames. The more resource-intensive Asphalt 9 on the minimal graphics settings does not work very smoothly, the high resolution of the screen affects. However, on the previously reviewed Vernee V2 Pro with similar characteristics, the situation was slightly worse. Apparently, the best optimization of software from Doogee is affected. The amount of internal memory reached 64GB , in reality, the buyer will be available 51.87GB , as part of the ROM is occupied by the operating system and embedded applications. For most users and the provided memory will be enough, for owners of the same extensive collections of music and video there is a slot for MicroSD- cards. Unfortunately, to use it you will have to donate one of the SIM-cards.
Did not deprive the smartphone and a huge number of various sensors. In addition to the accelerometer, light sensor and approximation, the user receives a gyro, NFC and wireless charging. The phone supports LTE . Receiving the network and the Internet is average, somewhat inferior to that of ZTE Axon 7 and Xiaomi Redmi 4X, but the difference is not critical. The Wi-Fi connection is stable, at a distance of 5-7 meters from the router (laptop) and through two walls the device still held the connection. In Asphalt 9, the accelerometer control worked correctly. The work of GPS also did not disappoint. In clear weather for about a minute the device found 10 satellites, connected to 7 of them. The error in the calculations was only 4 meters.
The main 12 (Sony IMX486) and 5-megapixel modules more than adequately cope with daytime photography. The color reproduction is natural, the noise reduction work is correct, the detail is saved both in the center of the photo and the edges.
Unfortunately, when the lighting deteriorates, noises appear, the focus time increases, as does the chance to make a blurred picture. In addition, if there is a small delay in the operation of the flash, because of what its use during night shooting is not as noticeable as we would like. However, the result of the evening photo session is still not good, but it is closer to the level of smartphones in the category of 100-125 dollars.
A photo without a flash.
Photo with flash.
The video is shot in FullHD resolution, 3GP format. Sound recording is mediocre, we do not recommend going to the concert with the phone as a camera. Most likely, in addition to noise, you will not hear anything. However, the quality of the video material itself is not bad, the frame rate does not practically fall when the lighting deteriorates, there is both autofocusing and tapping. The front module received a resolution of 8 megapixels . The quality of the received self is average, for publication in social networks without editing such photos are still not suitable.
The sound of the main speaker is loud , but not very high-quality. Its frequency response curve, because of what in some applications sound may seem deaf, and others - sharp and unpleasant. However, it will be difficult to miss the call, considering the good vibration of the smartphone. With the headphone output, the situation is standard for devices without a dedicated DAC and amplifier. You can listen to music, but audiophiles or even just music lovers will not be able to use the phone. Quality headphones improve the situation, but not dramatically.
Let's move on to one of the main advantages of the device - autonomy. The BL9000 is set in an impressive 9000mAh battery with fast charging (charger 5A 5V). In reality, the charging time can hardly be called modest. In the review author, charging the device from 8% to 100% took about 3,5 hours. On the other hand, buyers are unlikely to need to buy pawnbanks. Firstly, the smartphone itself can charge other devices, and secondly, even in such a resource-intensive game as World Of Tanks, the phablet is able to hold about 12-13 hours of active screen time. With auto brightness, volume in 30%, WI-Fi connection for one hour, the battery charge in the game dropped from 59% to 51%. In the standby mode for about 15 hours the phone was discharged only by 1%. Thus, in the mixed mode of using the device, the user obtains about 3-4 days of operation with the device. Impressive result, is not it?
The device has a modernized Android Oreo with the DoogeeOS V2.0.0 shell. It should be noted that from the stock version it differs little. The interface is smooth and responsive, there are no jerks.
As a result, we received a very balanced long-playing smartphone, devoid of any serious shortcomings. Of course, you can find fault with far from top-end technical specifications or good, but not outstanding cameras, but it's very, very difficult to find an equally technologically and autonomous phalbit for reasonable money.
Advantages: - nice looking design;
- a quality OGS-display with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and a large margin of brightness;
- sufficient for smooth operation of the most demanding hardware applications;
- good quality of shooting in daylight;
- NFC;
- A huge battery of 9000mAh with a quick charge function;
- A democratic price.
Disadvantages: - lack of a stock of performance for the future, the most modern games do not have high frame rates, even at low graphics settings;
- With deterioration of lighting, the camera is significantly lost as a photo and video.
