Doogee Fire 7 Ultra Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee Fire 7 Ultra Overview
The Doogee Fire 7 Ultra: A Smartphone That's Too Traditional
The smartphone market is evolving along with technological advances, and its demands are also increasing. It would be extremely difficult for a manufacturer to release a bestseller with the same technical specifications as last year's model. Ultimately, the Chinese company Doogee can hardly expect the huge commercial success of today's review subject, as it was created precisely according to the aforementioned design.
The device's appearance has a number of attractive features, but it also has its drawbacks. It's hard to miss the thick screen bezels, the oversized rubberized case, and the outdated form factor of the 16-megapixel selfie camera. However, there's also an interesting design for the photo module assembly, combined with a hole for the enormous speaker (up to 125 decibels), and the unique texture of the back panel. Of course, the new device deserves praise for its IP68 water resistance. However, the nearly 7-inch IPS panel is disappointing. Smooth content at a 90Hz refresh rate can't justify the mediocre image clarity at HD+ resolution, nor the modest 450-nit brightness and dull color reproduction.
The chipset selection raises fewer questions. The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor supports 5G networks and maintains performance appropriate for the price segment. With 8GB of RAM and a Mali G57-MC2 graphics adapter, the chip achieves 400,000 points in AnTuTu, enough for a responsive Android 15 experience. Of course, these results are not enough for gaming. For example, resource-intensive games like Fortnite will experience stuttering and freezing even at reduced graphics settings. On the other hand, the combination is more focused on energy efficiency, so the 13,000 mAh battery delivers 15-20 hours of active screen time. It's a shame that wired charging is limited to a paltry 33W. 256 GB of storage is available, and there's a microSD card slot.
Photography enthusiasts are unlikely to find anything particularly impressive in this device. The only auxiliary module is a 2-megapixel macro camera, which won't be used very often. The main 64-megapixel sensor is decent for daytime photography. Unfortunately, a drop in image detail and the appearance of artifacts as the sensor degrades are hard to miss. This is due to the lack of optical image stabilization. There's no stereo sound, but loud and rich audio is present in full. NFC contactless payments are also a plus, but the lack of real competitive advantages and the presence of typical flaws for this category prevents a clear recommendation.
