Doogee S Punk Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee S Punk Pro Overview
Doogee S Punk Pro - improvement of the wrong parameters
Smartphones with the Pro index are overwhelmingly supplemented versions of successful predecessors, offering significant improvements in technical characteristics and not only them. Of course, the price tag of such devices is also growing. However, sometimes positive changes occur far from those places where they were necessary for the previous model. As a result, work on errors turns out to be not very successful. This is exactly what happened to the hero of today's review.
The appearance of the new product has been transferred without any special metamorphoses. Only the texture of the back panel has changed, otherwise we see the same set of pros and cons of the exterior. The beautiful design of two photo modules, combined with a cutout for a huge speaker (balanced sound with a volume of 95 dB), is contrasted with mediocre ergonomics due to the impressive dimensions of the case with moisture protection according to IP68 standards. The bezels of the 6.58-inch IPS display are large, the screen quality is the same. The resolution of 2408x1080 pixels suits the chosen diagonal, there is no need to complain about the clarity, and the smoothness of the video sequence at a 90-Hz refresh rate is not bad. But the color rendition is slightly faded, and the brightness reserve is low compared to that of AMOLED analogs. In direct sunlight, the picture loses its visibility.
The UNISOC Tiger T620 processor has actually become an overclocked variation of the previously used T606 chip. The increase in performance was about 10%, together with 8 GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC1 video accelerator, the CPU copes more confidently with the Android 14 interface. However, in games, everything is the same. Undemanding projects like PUBG Mobile are played without lags, but some resource-intensive Genshin Impact, even with minimal graphic presets, are full of freezes and slowdowns. Autonomy is still the strongest side of the phablet. The 10800 mAh battery provides more than 3-4 days of interaction with the gadget, there is even a relatively fast charging power of 33W. They did not save on the size of the internal memory. The impressive 512 GB of ROM is also expandable with MicroSD cards.
But the developer forgot about improving the photo capabilities. The main 50 and 2-megapixel cameras are very simple and are not always ready even for daytime shooting. Some of the frames will be blurred regardless of the lighting, spoiled by noise and other artifacts. At the same time, the 16-megapixel selfie camera does not disappoint, it is suitable not only for video calls. Shopping enthusiasts will appreciate the presence of NFC contactless payments in the phone. However, the overall impression of the device remains ambiguous, because the increased price did not rid the device of its inherent shortcomings.
