Doogee S100 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee S100 Pro Overview
Doogee S100 Pro - strange improvements, clear deterioration
Pro-versions of smartphones for the most part differ for the better in comparison with the "ordinary" predecessors. However, sometimes changes cause twofold emotions. So, the hero of today's review has become much more autonomous, but lost in ergonomics and even in functionality.
The appearance of the novelty is similar to that of the previous model with one exception. The weight and thickness of the gadget with protection against dust and moisture according to IP68 standards is even greater due to the use of a 22000mAh battery. Of course, a week of work of a mobile assistant without sockets and power banks pleases, but it is very difficult to use such a dimensional monoblock. But now the design of the rear panel with a stylized leather texture is a little brighter, a bright special flashlight has appeared. The fingerprint scanner remains on the side, while a 6.58-inch IPS screen is located in front. It is not easy to notice any metamorphoses in it. Familiar FullHD+ resolution is paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for eye-catching color reproduction. However, there is no question of any flagship brightness margin, in this aspect, AMOLED displays are ahead.
The technical specifications are the same. The MediaTek Helio G99 CPU is not the worst chipset, but coupled with 12GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC2 video adapter, it is enough for everyday use. The Android 12 operating system rarely disappoints with lags, instant messengers, browsers and similar applications open almost instantly. Questions arise about the gaming capabilities of the chipset, which are far from limitless. If modern, but not particularly demanding games like Honkai: Star Rail or Diablo Immortal are more than playable even at medium graphics settings, then the same Fortnite or Genshin Impact are replete with friezes and lags, due to which the gameplay can rather upset. The permanent memory in the phablet is 256GB of ROM, so it will hardly be necessary to expand it. But even for large collections of music, photos and videos, there is a slot for microSD cards.
The installed main 108-, 20- and 16-megapixel photomodules are really good. The night vision sensor will be useful for fishermen and hunters, the face does not fall into the mud and a wide-angle lens. The main module from Samsung copes even with evening shooting, leaving only a few noises and blurs on the frames. Optical stabilization could bring their number to a minimum, but it is missing. There is also no stereo sound, but the only speaker produces a volume of almost 90 dB, as well as a relatively flat frequency response. Even the bass is heard in the reproduced compositions. There is support for NFC contactless payments, but wireless charging has disappeared, and the power of the wired alternative has dropped to 33W. Unfortunately, such shortcomings and simplifications in a number of parameters will not turn the gadget into a hit.
