Doogee V Max 2 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee V Max 2 Pro Overview
Doogee V Max 2 Pro - Excesses with Drawbacks
The Chinese company Doogee strives to produce smartphones with IP68 water resistance across all price segments. So, the developer decided to focus its efforts on creating a flagship phone, or at least one that resembles one. It's hard to say that the subject of today's review is a failure, but it's easy to see the imbalance in its technical and other specifications.
The new device's appearance is highly questionable, but fans of rugged candybar phones will be pleased. The modern round camera module, ergonomic side fingerprint sensor, interesting textured rear panel with several pseudo-metallic elements, secondary display for statistical information, and camping flashlight are all pleasant touches, but the impression is significantly marred by the device's enormous size, weight of over 600 grams, and wide bezels on the IPS panel. For some reason, the manufacturer skimped on the main display. The outdated IPS technology doesn't provide sufficient peak brightness for comfortable viewing in direct sunlight, and color reproduction is dull compared to its more advanced AMOLED counterparts. Furthermore, the FullHD+ resolution isn't ideal for the 6.78-inch display, so content clarity is average. However, the display does feature a 120Hz refresh rate.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, 16GB of RAM, and Mali G615MC6 graphics card are a solid combination, ready to handle both the Android 16 interface and resource-intensive gaming apps. Fans of Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Diablo Immortal, and other demanding titles will be able to enjoy their favorite titles at high graphics settings. If only gaming were comfortable on such a heavy device... Battery life is impeccable, thanks to a 22,000 mAh battery. You can go for a week without needing to plug in. There's no wireless charging, but at least the wired alternative has been bumped up to an impressive 120W. The storage is a whopping 1024 GB, which is a bit much considering the microSD card slot.
Photography capabilities are unremarkable. The list of auxiliary modules lacks a telephoto lens; there's a peculiar 64-megapixel night vision sensor and a simple 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. The main 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2 sensor lacks optical image stabilization, meaning evening photo sessions will be marred by noise and blur. There's no stereo sound, but the volume of the single large speaker and the smooth frequency response are unmatched. NFC contactless payment and 5G support round out the device's list of advantages, but the abundance of compromises and shortcomings will still prevent the gadget from becoming a bestseller.
