Doogee V Max S Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee V Max S Overview
Doogee V Max S - a tough choice?
The Chinese company Doogee decided to please all fans of rugged smartphones with excellent autonomy without exception. If the first new products of the current year could not boast a really attractive price tag, then the hero of today's review is noticeably cheaper than its predecessors in the series and at the same time has not become noticeably simpler in technical characteristics and other parameters.
The appearance of the device is similar to that of previous models, which cannot be definitely considered an advantage or a disadvantage. The beautiful back panel has metal elements, a stylish triple camera unit, and a camping flashlight. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the side. But the large display frames, the enormous thickness of the case, caused by moisture protection according to IP68 standards and a capacious battery, are unlikely to please everyone. The 6.58-inch screen is created using IPS technology to reduce costs. The peak brightness of 550 nits is not pleasing, the device is simply afraid of direct sunlight, it is not so easy to see the information. But other indicators are not bad. The resolution of 2408x1080 pixels provides the necessary image clarity, which is also characterized by high smoothness at a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The color rendition is realistic, it is difficult to find fault with it.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor and the Mali G68MC4 video core now work with 8 GB of RAM. However, this simplification did not affect the performance. The Android 14 interface is still responsive, applications launch almost instantly, and most resource-intensive games function at medium graphics settings. The battery with a capacity of 22000 mAh awakens genuine delight. You can forget about sockets or power banks for up to 5-7 days. If only there was a faster charge than the existing 33W ... The permanent memory is allocated 256 GB. They can always be expanded with MicroSD cards.
The photographic capabilities are not mediocre for the segment either. The auxiliary modules are not very impressive, because the 20-megapixel monochrome night vision sensor will not be needed by every user, and the 2-megapixel portrait sensor is close to being useless. The situation is different with the main 108-megapixel photo module from Samsung. It is very easy to take a good shot during the day, and some detail is preserved during evening photo sessions, but the lack of optical stabilization still makes itself felt due to the appearance of noise and blur. Stereo sound is not provided, but the only speaker is endowed with both volume and a fairly uniform frequency response. There was also room for NFC contactless payments, and the modem supports 5G networks. Thus, we have a durable, balanced, functional and very long-lasting device, the only significant drawback of which will be perhaps the ergonomics.
