Elephone P12 - the fight of new and old items 

The Chinese company Elephone recently not often presents us really interesting novelties. However, understanding the possible lagging behind the nearest competitors, the corporation decided to provide its fans with several models that were trying to meet the needs of a modern audience. Unfortunately, it was not possible for the developer to release the fully competitive, attractive device. 

Let's start with the merits. The exterior of the gadget is more than beautiful. A wood-stylized back panel, a fingerprint scanner, a large bezelless  OGS-panel and a modest body thickness leave a pleasant impression from the exterior. You can only find fault with the absence of a double photocamera. The huge 6.18-inches display is not deprived of brightness, and the highest resolution at 2246x1080 pixels, sufficient to output a clear, detailed image. 

But the technical characteristics are puzzling. Using the rather obsolete and overheated Mediatek MT6797T chip is unlikely to please. Even with 4GB of RAM and the Mali T880MP2 GPU, the user will observe gliches in demanding games due to throttling. ROM is allocated 32/128GB, there is a slot for MicroSD-cards. Thus, the gadget can accommodate hundreds of audio and video files, among which only a few will be gaming applications. 

But the rear 21-megapixel photomatrix in the daytime and in the evening creates good photos with natural color rendition. Of course, the pictures are not without noise, but their overall quality is high. But these words do not apply to the 8-megapixel frontal module, ready to shoot good selfie only with excellent lighting. The main plus of the phablet is a capacious 6000mAh rechargeable battery. However, the irrelevant "hardware" allows you to get about nine hours of active screen time from the battery. LTE, OTG and Android Oreo supplement the list of positive features of the device, but the controversial processor choice and not the most advanced design actually put a cross on the future status of the bestseller.
