Google Pixel 10a Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Google Pixel 10a Overview
Google Pixel 10a – On the Road to Outright Failure
Google, the American company, is hardly a smartphone market leader, but its devices have always found many fans around the world thanks to their "pure" Android OS, sophisticated camera software, signature design, and a number of other attributes. However, with each passing year, the influence of these competitive advantages has waned, and they themselves are no longer considered such by today's audiences. It seems that in 2026, the most affordable member of the developer's portfolio has every chance of becoming a complete failure.
The appearance of the new device is difficult to rate positively. Yes, there is a pleasing metal frame, simple yet stylish colors of high-quality polycarbonate cases, and a neat photo module assembly, but seeing such huge screen bezels today is simply unacceptable. And this is doubly disappointing considering the device's price tag. The 6.3-inch AMOLED display itself has a good 2424x1080 resolution for its diagonal size, a respectable peak brightness of 3000 nits, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Color reproduction is also decent, but the AMOLED panel's energy efficiency is mediocre and it exhibits a pronounced pulse-width modulation (PWM) effect. Those sensitive to this effect will experience discomfort when interacting with the device.
The technical specifications include a Tensor G4 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and a Mali G715-MC7 graphics adapter. This combination significantly lags behind top-end Qualcomm and MediaTek chipsets in performance. A million points in AnTuTu is a modest result, making it unrealistic to expect to successfully run resource-intensive games at maximum graphics settings. Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and similar games run smoothly with medium graphics settings. Battery life is also disappointing. The 5100mAh battery lasts for approximately 7-8 hours of active screen time. Compared to its Chinese competitors, the wired (30W) and wireless (10W) charging power is laughable.
The photo capabilities of the main 48-megapixel module with hybrid stabilization and the 13-megapixel wide-angle lens are sufficient for daytime and evening photography. However, in a phone of this class, a telephoto lens would be welcome. Still, capturing distant objects isn't as easy as with many competitors. As for the stereo sound, it's impeccable. It's loud and spacious. NFC contactless payments, IP68 water resistance, 5G, and eSIM support are also welcome features, but wouldn't it be easier to consider alternatives with more extensive functionality and an attractive exterior?
