Google Pixel 9 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Google Pixel 9 Pro Overview
Google Pixel 9 Pro - a new hit with old shortcomings
The updated line of flagship smartphones from Google is a real reason for happiness for many fans of the brand, because it offers a more interesting design, and improved technical characteristics, and a significant number of other positive changes in the parameters of the phones. However, if the developer has definitely worked on the strengths of the devices, then he again forgot about their disadvantages and simply transferred them from previous models. Does the new product deserve close attention?
The appearance of the phablet, as noted above, has undergone metamorphoses. The photo module block looks more modern and stylish, the glass and metal case, thanks to the rounded corners, fits perfectly in the hand. The only disappointing thing is the thickness of the display frames. They have definitely become smaller, but are still visible to the naked eye. But the 6.3-inch AMOLED screen with a built-in fingerprint scanner has an impressive resolution of 2856x1280 pixels and, as a result, excellent image detail. Add to this a 120-Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of more than 3000 nits, realistic color rendition, and you get an almost perfect AMOLED panel. The PWM effect slightly spoils the impression of the listed indicators, and people who are really sensitive to it will have to look for an alternative to the phablet.
The latest proprietary Tensor G4 processor is chosen. This is a good chip, but even with 16 GB of RAM, it is inferior to the top Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in performance and energy efficiency. In the AnTuTU benchmark, the CPU scores "only" 1,200,000 points, but almost all resource-intensive games will be available with maximum graphics presets. However, after an hour or an hour and a half, throttling appears, a drop in framerate may be noticeable, and sometimes lags. The 4700 mAh battery solves potential problems with autonomy, because it only needs to be charged once a day, or even more. There is wireless charging, but modest (15W), it is recommended to use its 37W analogue. However, it is also far from the record values of its opponents. The permanent memory is allocated 128/256/512/1024 GB.
The main 50- (the main sensor from Samsung with hybrid stabilization) and 48-megapixel (telephoto lens with five-fold optical zoom and OIS, wide-angle lens) cameras are among the best on the market. Daytime photos are simply flawless, even evening shots are full of small details, the color rendition is natural, and noise is extremely difficult to detect. The video sequence in 8K resolution is smooth and detailed. Of course, the stereo sound is also impressive. It is loud, balanced, and voluminous. Contactless payments NFC, support for 5G networks and Ultra-Wide Band technology, and water protection according to IP68 standards add to the attractiveness of the gadget. However, the abundance of competitors with less problematic chipsets and AMOLED displays call into question the future status of a bestseller, as a whole, a very worthy device.
