Hotwav X100 GT Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
HOTWAV X100 GT Overview
HOTWAV X100 GT - Clear Competitive Advantages and Disadvantages
The Chinese company Hotwav is still far from a leader in the smartphone market. Unfortunately, its latest products suggest this situation is unlikely to change anytime soon. The phones aren't bad, but they look very unique compared to their A-brand competitors. Today's review subject is no exception.
The new phone's appearance is a mixed bag. The screen's rather thin bezels, the outdated 16-megapixel selfie camera, and the widespread use of inexpensive plastic don't do the exterior any favors. Positive aspects include a variety of back panel colors, the integration of the camera module and the secondary 2.02-inch display (which displays notifications, assists with photo shooting, and more) into a single design element, and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The main 6.9-inch IPS display, however, doesn't deliver stunning clarity; its 1640x720 resolution is insufficient for such a large screen. Individual pixels are visible to the naked eye. Brightness is modest, and direct sunlight significantly reduces image visibility. However, the smoothness of the display at a 120Hz refresh rate is hard to dispute.
The specifications include a UNISOC Tiger T620 CPU, 6GB/8GB RAM, and a Mali G57MC1 graphics card. This combination scores around 270,000-290,000 points in AnTuTu, so Android 16 interface performance isn't perfect, but it's satisfactory. There are some minor stutters, and apps sometimes take a while to load. Gaming performance is mediocre, though; you'll have to stick to either 2D titles or games with less demanding 3D graphics (such as PUBG Mobile). The 5160 mAh battery provides approximately a day and a half of battery life. Fast charging at 20W is barely adequate. Storage is 128/256 GB with a microSD card slot.
The photography capabilities of the main 48-megapixel Omnivision OV48B sensor and 0.08-megapixel depth sensor are basic. While document capture is possible in good lighting, the cameras lack the potential for artistic photography. There's no stereo sound, nor is there a dedicated headphone jack. However, NFC contactless payments are not forgotten, which would definitely come in handy in supermarkets. Overall, this is a decent device, but one with too many shortcomings, and it's hard to recommend.
