Huawei Mate 70 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
HUAWEI Mate 70 Overview
HUAWEI Mate 70 - the youngest, but the flagship
The Chinese company Huawei still cannot fully recover from the critical situation it found itself in several years ago due to sanctions. The inability to use Google software, as well as the latest American chipsets, has definitely affected the popularity of the corporation's products. However, time does not stand still, phones like the hero of today's review are now really competitive in the price category. But you need to understand that when buying them, the user will still have to make small compromises.
The appearance of the new product is stylish and up-to-date. The round block of photo modules almost does not protrude from the beautiful glass panel with well-chosen color solutions, the metal edging pleasantly cools the palm. The front surface is almost 90% covered by a frameless 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a built-in fingerprint sensor. The AMOLED screen is extremely modern. It has virtually no PWM effect, and it has excellent image clarity at a resolution of 2688x1216 pixels, and impressive smoothness at a 120-Hz refresh rate. Color rendition is perfectly calibrated, and the developer did not forget about the effective oleophobic coating of the glass.
The technical characteristics are the proprietary Kirin 9010 CPU, 12 GB of RAM and the Maleoon-910 MP4 graphics adapter. The chipset is rather the weak point of the phablet. Performance is not considered low (about a million points in the AnTuTu test), but the lag behind the top Qualcomm and MediaTek chips is significant. If the HarmonyOS interface is smooth and responsive, then some resource-intensive games will require lowering the graphics settings to avoid slowdowns (for example, Genshin Impact). There are no problems with autonomy. The 5300mAh battery lasts for a day and a half to two days, there is both a 66W wired charger and a 50W wireless alternative. You can't expand the storage, but that's hard to write off as a minus with 256/512/1024GB of ROM.
The device's photo capabilities are represented by the main 50-megapixel module and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with five-fold optical zoom, which are also equipped with hybrid stabilization, a 40-megapixel wide-angle lens, and an auxiliary TOF sensor. The resulting photos and video files are close in detail to those of more expensive camera phones. The stereo sound also pleases with both volume and richness. There are also NFC contactless payments, IP68 waterproofing, 5G network support, an IR port for controlling household appliances, and the ability to communicate via text via satellites. But there are no Google services, which is why the functionality of some applications is questionable. Thus, we have a technologically advanced, attractive gadget that is easy to forgive for its few shortcomings.
