Huawei Mate 70 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
HUAWEI Mate 70 Pro Overview
HUAWEI Mate 70 Pro - a great smartphone doomed to failure?
The Chinese company Huawei decided to please its fans with an updated line of flagship phones at the end of the year. However, the problems of the company's products are only getting worse with each generation of the series. And if earlier the lack of Google services and mediocre technical characteristics were offset by a reasonable price, excellent photo capabilities and a signature design, now these advantages may not be enough for a demanding audience.
The appearance of the phablet is strict, but at the same time incredibly stylish. The variety of colors of the glass panels is complemented by a metal edging, a neat and at the same time massive block of photo modules, minimal screen frames. The modest thickness of the case protected by IP68 standards also increases the attractiveness of the exterior. The 6.9-inch AMOLED display boasts an impressive brightness of more than 4000 nits, an excellent resolution of 2832x1316 pixels for a diagonal, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and natural color rendition. As a result, it is almost impossible to find fault with the clarity or smoothness of the displayed image. And the effectiveness of the oleophobic layer does not raise questions.
But the latest Kirin 9020 CPU is already quite controversial. Together with 12 GB of RAM and the Maleoon 920 video adapter, it gives about 1,100,000 points in the AnTuTu test. The gap from the best Qualcomm and MediaTek processors is serious. Of course, the mentioned performance is sufficient to display the HarmonyOS interface, instantly launch most applications, but you should not count on maximum settings in projects like Genshin Impact or Zenless Zone Zero, as well as stable gameplay in them. You will still have to switch to medium-high presets. Throttling will also be an incentive for this action. But energy efficiency is not bad. The 5500 mAh battery will last for one and a half to two days, the power of both wired (100 W) and wireless (80 W) charging is impressive. The permanent memory is allocated 256/512/1024 GB.
The 50-megapixel main sensor and 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom, equipped with hybrid stabilization, a 40-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a TOF camera are responsible for literally perfect photos and videos regardless of lighting. The detail of the pictures is off the charts, while the effective noise reduction works almost without errors. Of course, there is no saving on the volume of the stereo speakers, which reproduce surround and balanced sound. The list of advantages is increased by support for NFC, 5G networks, an IR port for controlling household appliances, and the ability to send text messages via satellite communications. But the peculiar chipset and the lack of Google services, coupled with the increased price tag, do not allow us to definitely recommend the gadget for purchase.
