Honor 400 Lite - noticeable but insufficient changes

The Chinese company Honor decided not to reduce the number of models in the updated generation of its mid-range smartphones. Unfortunately, this fact had practically no effect on the competitiveness of the youngest phone in the line. It is quite easy to see the improvements, but the hero of today's review will still have a hard time competing with the most technologically advanced competitors.

The appearance of the new product is beautiful and relevant. The fingerprint scanner has been moved to the display, pleasing with thin frames around the entire perimeter and a relatively small cutout for a dual selfie camera (50 MP + 2 MP). That's right, the unit will definitely suit those who like to post hundreds of photos on social networks. The case is made of plastic, not glass or metal, but the quality of the material is excellent, it does not collect scratches too quickly. The triple camera block is neat, almost does not protrude. The 6.7-inch AMOLED panel itself retained a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels, the image clarity is standard, not record-breaking. But the smoothness of the image is beyond reproach at a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and the color rendering has avoided serious errors. But the peak brightness of 1500 nits could have been higher.

The technical characteristics now include a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and an IMG BXM-8-256 video core. The chipset is clearly more productive than the previously used 6080, but it is far from processors with the index 7300, 8300. The Android 15 interface works stably, without visible slowdowns, but resource-intensive games can only be enjoyed with low-medium graphic presets. The battery capacity has been increased to 5000 mAh, battery life is up to 9-10 hours of screen time. At the same time, the charging power is still 35 W, so you will have to stay near a socket or power bank for a long time. 128/256 GB of permanent memory is allocated, a slot for MicroSD cards is not provided. But such a volume of ROM may not be enough for some users in 2025.

The main 50-megapixel sensor, 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and 2-megapixel portrait sensor are responsible for photo capabilities. All of them did not receive optical stabilization, which is why increased dynamics of events, mediocre lighting and other similar factors negatively affect the results of photo sessions. During the day, the shots are detailed and with natural color rendition. There is stereo sound, but not particularly uniform and loud. NFC contactless payments and 5G support add to the list of the gadget’s advantages, but lagging behind its competitors in many respects is unlikely to make the device a real hit.
