Honor X40 GT Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Honor X40 GT Overview
Honor X40 GT - note to gamers
Android smartphones are becoming more and more popular among game fans. The reason for this was both the release of excellent projects directly to the operating system itself (Pascal's Wager), and the abundance of multiplatform titles (Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Undecember), emulators (AetherSX2, Dolphin and others). It is for the mentioned category of people that the hero of today's review is presented. Unfortunately, other users may not evaluate the device immediately due to a number of problems.
The appearance of the novelty turned out to be extremely interesting. Due to the thin bezels of the display, the side fingerprint scanner and the branded design of photomodules, the phablet is easy to confuse with Honor's flagship solutions. Of course, a closer acquaintance with the device eliminates this illusion, because the body is made of plastic. The 6.81-inch IPS screen does not set records in terms of brightness, but tries to please the buyer due to the 144 Hz refresh rate, natural color reproduction and the absence of the PWM effect that AMOLED opponents are characterized by. As a result, the eyes do not experience discomfort even after several hours spent with the IPS panel.
The real competitive advantage of the gadget is the technical characteristics. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 CPU is one of the most powerful chipsets available today, with which you can always hope for maximum graphics presets. There is a drop in performance due to throttling, but not the most significant. Of course, 8GB / 12GB of RAM and the Adreno 660 video accelerator help the processor to achieve such impressive power. Autonomy is average, but not mediocre, because a 4800mAh battery is almost always enough for a day of active use of a mobile assistant. They didn’t save on charging power either, it amounted to 66W. Internal storage is capped at 256GB, which should be enough for the vast majority.
Where the phone really disappoints is in its photo capabilities. Inexpensive 50- and 2-megapixel photomodules without optical stabilization are not always ready to cope even with daytime shooting, which is noticeable in blurry small details, noise in dark areas. Evening shots come out frankly bad both in detail and in color reproduction. There is also no stereo sound, which is why the effect of immersion in the gameplay is not so high. To replenish the list of pluses, they are trying to support NFC contactless payments and 5G networks. Several critical shortcomings do not turn the device into a bestseller, but the most powerful unit will have its fans.
