Honor X40 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Honor X40 Overview
Honor X40 - forgotten photo opportunities
The experience of the Chinese corporation Honor in the development of smartphones is really great, but even the most famous and successful developers cannot produce only hits. So, sometimes ambiguous models with obvious shortcomings sometimes come out from under the conveyor of manufacturers. One of those was the hero of today's review.
The design of an inexpensive phone turned out great. Thanks to a truly frameless 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, a side fingerprint sensor and a camera unit copied from the brand's flagships, the device looks impressive against the background of opponents. Even the plastic case does not spoil the overall picture. The displayed image is also pleasing. There is a 120-Hz refresh rate for excellent smoothness, and FullHD + resolution for increased clarity, and an impressive margin of brightness. The AMOLED panel did not do without the effectiveness of the oleophobic layer.
The technical characteristics were the mid-budget Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 CPU with support for 5G networks, 6GB / 8GB / 12GB of RAM and the Adreno 619 video core, which can be called the initial gaming one. Even resource-intensive Genshin Impact and Diablo Immortal will launch with a good framerate, however, the level of graphic presets will rarely exceed the average values. The energy efficiency of the processor is not in question. With a battery of 5100 mAh, the buyer will be able to count on a couple of days of active use of the mobile assistant with 8-9 hours of screen time. Fast charging power was competitive 40W. It is allowed to store data both on 128/256GB of ROM and on MicroSD cards.
But the main 50 and 2-megapixel photomodules frankly upset. If during the day there is still a high chance of getting a detailed frame, then when the lighting deteriorates, the user will receive an abundance of blurry details and a lot of noise. The video recorded in FullHD also suffers from mediocre electronic stabilization. They saved on stereo sound, but the volume of a single speaker is not always enough to receive calls and messages. There are no contactless NFC payments either, which will be a critical disadvantage for a part of the audience. Unfortunately, these shortcomings significantly worsen the perception of a functional, beautiful and balanced gadget as a whole.
