Honor X70 Pro Max Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Honor X70 Pro Max Overview
The Honor X70 Pro Max – a beauty with its flaws
The Chinese company Honor constantly monitors the demands of the smartphone market and strives to create products that fully meet them. However, this can sometimes be challenging due to cost constraints, especially during an economic downturn. This is why today's review subject outperforms many competitors in some areas, while lagging significantly behind in others.
The new device's appearance is very attractive. All four case colors have a modern look, the photo module assembly is flagship-style, and despite its extremely thin design, it boasts IP68 water resistance. The thin bezels around the entire screen are also hard to miss. Of course, the nearly seven-inch AMOLED panel also features a built-in fingerprint scanner. The AMOLED display impresses with a peak brightness of 6000 nits and smooth images at a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Content clarity is unmatched thanks to the 2640x1200 resolution, and the developer has also worked hard to improve color reproduction. PWM effects are minimized.
Technical specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and an Adreno 810 GPU. This combination scores just over 700,000 points in the AnTuTu v10 benchmark, which is a decent, though not ideal, result for this price segment. In everyday use, the Android 16 interface offers consistent lag-free performance, and games known for their resource-intensive nature can be played at medium graphics settings. The battery capacity has been increased to an excellent 8560mAh, providing up to 15-20 hours of screen-on time. And when you do need to find a power outlet, you only need to leave the device near one for 50-60 minutes (90W fast charging). The internal memory is 256GB/512GB, with no microSD card slot.
Where the device is a bit disappointing is its photography capabilities. The main 50-megapixel sensor without optical image stabilization and the 2-megapixel depth sensor aren't particularly suited for artistic photography. Daytime photos still retain decent detail, but evening shots are riddled with noise, blur, and color deficiencies. Let's summarize the gadget's other advantages, including NFC contactless payments and 5G support. Therefore, if you're not looking for cutting-edge cameras, the device will evoke only positive emotions.
