Honor X7b Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Honor X7b Overview
Honor X7b - long-lasting, but boring
The Chinese company Honor is an experienced smartphone manufacturer capable of creating a successful phone in any price segment. However, sometimes the developer plays it too safe and releases the most standard model without any obvious competitive advantages, as well as disadvantages. The hero of today's review has become a living example of such a product.
The appearance of the new product is stylish, similar to that of the more expensive representatives of the corporation’s range. The branded block of photo modules is easy to recognize at first glance; the interesting colors of the housings made of high-quality polycarbonate and the small 8-megapixel front-facing photosensor at the top of the screen are pleasing. All of the above is complemented by a convenient side fingerprint scanner. Perhaps the only flaw in the exterior is the lower bezel of the display, which is hard to miss. The 6.8-inch IPS panel surprises with a good brightness reserve of 800 nits, FullHD+ resolution and a 90-Hz picture refresh rate. Color rendition is also good.
Where the situation could be better is in the technical specifications. Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU, 6GB/8GB RAM and Adreno 610 video core are definitely not the most productive combination. It copes with rendering the Android 14 interface; applications used in everyday life, such as instant messengers and the browser, also launch without serious slowdowns. But if we are talking about games, then you will have to forget about truly resource-intensive projects like Fortnite. The frame rate will not be stable with any graphic presets. But the energy-efficient chipset has a great effect on the autonomy of the device. With a 6000mAh battery, it is not difficult to get more than 10-12 hours of active screen time. There is fast charging, but the power of 35W will not make the process of staying at the outlet fleeting (100-110 minutes to fully reach the battery capacity). The size of the permanent memory can be 128/256GB, it is expandable with MicroSD cards.
The main cameras turned out to be ambiguous. The auxiliary 5 and 2 megapixel sensors are frankly bad, which cannot be said about the main 108 megapixel module from Samsung. Daytime photos and indoor shots turn out decent, detail is at a high level, and there are no errors in color rendition. Unfortunately, the lack of optical stabilization has a negative impact on night shots, but it’s not difficult to see details behind some noise. Stereo sound is present, although its volume and balance are not flagship ones. Music lovers will also appreciate the separate headphone jack. NFC contactless payments are also available. However, the combination of advantages does not make the device more productive or functional, so it is not easy to definitely recommend it for purchase.
