Huawei Mate 40 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei Mate 40 Overview
Huawei Mate 40 - unjustified expectations?
The Chinese company Huawei is in a crisis situation, from which it is not very easy to get out. A significant number of users abandon the manufacturer's smartphones, which lack Google services, which are necessary for the correct functioning of a number of applications. In such a situation, the developer should release products with fantastic value for money in order to retain the audience. However, solving such a problem is not easy, as the hero of today's review demonstrates.
The design of the novelty is definitely a success. The case of glass and metal is decorated with truly original design of three cameras, which favorably distinguishes the phablet against the background of faceless opponents. At the front is a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen with a fingerprint sensor and a good, but still far from ideal 13-megapixel selfie camera. But the picture displayed by the display cannot be found fault with. The high resolution FullHD + is complemented not only by a huge margin of brightness and excellent contrast, but also by an increased image refresh rate of 90 hertz for smoother playback of content.
The technical characteristics are flagship, but not without minor flaws. The Kirin 9000E processor, along with 8GB of RAM and the Mali G78MP22 video adapter, can cope with any demanding games at maximum graphics settings, but the rear panel is heated due to the mediocre cooling system. But one cannot fail to note the decent energy efficiency of the latest chip, thanks to which it is possible to get about a dozen hours of active screen time from a 4200mAh battery. There is definitely no savings on the amount of internal storage, which was brought to 256GB of ROM .
Main cameras evoke controversial emotions. On the one hand, the brilliant 52-megapixel Sony IMX700 sensor, coupled with 16 and 8-megapixel auxiliary modules, will cope even with difficult shooting scenarios and will produce impressive details and natural color reproduction. However, for some reason, only a telephoto lens has optical stabilization. NFC contactless payments are present, as well as dust and moisture protection according to IP68 standards. But the gadget was deprived of wireless charging. Unfortunately, the advantages listed above are side by side with some unpleasant shortcomings that I would not like to see in such an expensive device. Because of this, we cannot definitely recommend the device for purchase.
