Huawei Mate X3 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei Mate X3 Overview
Huawei Mate X3 is an expensive but stupid addition
The Chinese company Huawei still maintains its position in the Chinese smartphone market, but has become noticeably less popular in Europe and the CIS. In many ways, the problem is connected with the removal of Google services from phones, without which the operation of a number of applications is problematic, and with the increased pricing policy. The hero of today's review combines these shortcomings with a minimum of significant changes compared to its predecessor.
The design of the novelty has changed, but not everywhere for the better. The bezels of the 8.4-inch main and 6.65-inchAMOLED displays have been shrunk, the case itself is now slightly thinner, and the folding mechanism has become more durable, but the large dual front camera lens has not disappeared. It is because of him that the exterior does not look as impressive as it could. You can’t fault the assembly materials in the form of metal and tempered glass, but the coating of the larger AMOLED screen is still represented by plastic with a special film. The durability of folding phablets is thus still questionable. Picture quality is excellent for both AMOLED panels, combining brightness and color contrast with improved smoothness at 120Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint scanner is built into the screen.
Surprisingly, the technical characteristics remained at the level of the previous model. The HiSilicon Kirin9000 CPU without support for 5G networks, 8GB / 12GB ofRAM and the Mali G78MP24 video chip is not the worst bunch, but it lags far behind in performance from the same top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon and Mediatek Dimensity. Today, the chipset is still ready to demonstrate the highest graphics settings in games like Genshin Impact, but there is no huge margin for the future. The energy efficiency of the processor is average, and if we add to it the gluttony of the huge display, then we can only expect a 4500 mAh battery from a battery for about a day of operation of the device. But the battery has both fast wired charging ( 80W ) and its rather nimble wireless counterpart (25W). The internal storage is allocated from 128 to 512GB , depending on the version of the semi-tablet.
Experienced photographers will notice a positive metamorphosis in pictures taken with 50-, 16- and 12-megapixel photomodules. Proprietary software optimization, a proven hybrid stabilization system, high-quality lenses and an optical five-fold zoom bring the unit in question to camera phones without any compromise. You also need to praise the stereo sound , the presence of NFC contactless payment. But the extremely high price tag, the HarmonyOS shell cut in functionality, the lack of Google services and the previously listed disadvantages do not allow us to unequivocally recommend a technological, but very controversial gadget for purchase.
