Huawei NZone S7 Pro - expensive, but not pleasant

The Chinese company Huawei suddenly decided to create a new sub-brand aimed at the domestic market. The main features of the new products were supposed to be a premium appearance and a balanced technical characteristics with a reasonable pricing policy, but something clearly went wrong.

The design of the device is one thing for which it is definitely worth praising. The rounded edges and corners of the ergonomic body are perfectly matched with a beautiful triple camera unit, a side fingerprint sensor and a virtually bezel-less display. The colors of the rear glass panel are tastefully selected, but the edging could have been made of metal rather than plastic. The 6.6-inch IPS display is harder to praise. Many opponents are ready to boast much brighter and more contrasting AMOLED panels. The picture, with all its clarity (FullHD + resolution), fade noticeably in direct sunlight. On the positive side, I would also like to note the smoothness of the content at a refresh rate of 90 hertz.

The Mediatek Dimensity 720 is not a low-performance processor, but this solution is found in much cheaper Android smartphones. Against the background of pre-top Qualcomm Snapdragon 860/870, the chipset looks dull and offers gamers only low-to-medium graphics presets in the most demanding games like Genshin Impact. But the energy efficiency of the CPU is so good that 8-9 hours of active screen time from a 4000mAh battery will become commonplace. It will take 45-50 minutes to charge the battery up to 100% (40W fast charging). 8GB of RAM and a Mali G57MC3 video adapter help the chip to flawlessly cope with the Android 11 interface, 128 / 256GB of ROM does not look superfluous in the big picture.

The main 64-, 8- and 2-megapixel cameras are far from perfect. The lack of optical stabilization negatively affects evening photos, noise and a decrease in detail are visible to the naked eye. In addition, 4K video in low light has a ghosting effect that is unpleasant to the eye. There are no NFC contactless payments, as well as stereo speakers, an obstacle to buying a gadget will be the lack of FDD-LTE B7, which is important for the operation of 4G networks in the CIS countries. But there is support for 5G networks, although the list of supported 5G frequencies is limited. As a result, we have in front of us a very controversial device with a number of disadvantages that a representative of a medium-high value category should not have.
